So here is a little bit of Hemus. Not much and probably you all know these images but well, I promised to post them and don't remember if they have been posted before here (don't have the nerves to pass again 600 post thread )

These come from the site of the enterprise who did the rehabilitation. As you know, Hemus is quite old and due to the enormous crisis the country had, the highway needed big rehabilitation works.

I find those interesting because we actually can see the rehabilitation works

the rehabilitation works are done by the same company who constructed the road to the mountains I showed on the pervious page. Glav Bulgarstroi, they are allready but not stunning.

Someone posted already this? Can crash barriers get shinier?
(sorry for the watermarks but I bet you won't even notice them more than a second- blinded by this shiny crash barrier)

Only for Radi!! Trakia highway, or it was Martiza?!

This is jsut awesome, the motorway looks typical Bulgarian, that´s the new design and I am happy about it, they use same asphalt and crashbarriers on the new motorways it seems because it´s good quality. And the tradition with the pope who praises the motorway in order to stay a long time without accidents is also a great tradition. What I don´t like however is that the asphalt is so bright, why is that, why do they use so bright asphalt.

That middle person is Radi, i assume. Nobody else would be so dedicated to this motorway. I think Radi would wanna be that person, to christen the motorway himself.

Here's viaduct Makaza, under construction picture. This viaduct is in the Rhodopes mountains. A little beauty. Only two viaducts are built with this technology in Bulgaria. This one and the one near Pravetz (Hemus)

Isn't it a cutie?

Another one- Viaduct Makaza:

Here, a viaduct on Trakia higway under construction again- I bet it's finished already:

What's with the old pictures, I don't know?! But I guess it's better than nothing. And as I said, I LOOOOOVE these kind of pictures I just don't understand much of it. It seems like something badly done. Is it normal for the concrete to look this way? (explain to the ex-blonde pls )

RawLee, yeah it's fascinating. I watched movies about the bridge in Normandie and the Millau viaduct. Absolutely fantastic display of modern technique.

But let's be humble, all this is already quite a lot knowing what we endured.

Ooops sorry, I think the first one is Maritsa. I have many pictures bookmarked and don't really know is it's Trakia (as written on the image) or Maritsa.

The other pics might be from Marica but this surely is Trakya, in the distance you see the beautiful Vitosha mountain.

Yes, this is Trakia. I recognise it by the fences. Btw, I have never, EVER seen so many falcons at another place. When you travel on Trakia, just watch the fences- it's amazing. I was in a bus once and showed them to the people in the bus and they were also as fascinated as me

RawLee, unfortunately, half if not more, of these pictures are old. Old enough to not show the present state of the roads. But we have nothing more.

Hey guys, I am wondering if the road on the first pic is the same as on the later or if it was repaired on the last pics. Because the first pic is taken sometime in 2002 and the other pics are taken in 2007, you see in the first pic that the road has no sidemarkings because it was very new. If it wasn´t renovated it is impressive because the road feels now like brandnew and that for 5 years.
2002

2007

Ok, I see the markings are different so either they were repainted or the whole road was renovated.
