No, the tallest tower is 284 m (Three IFC Seoul) I believe that it'll became the tallest building in Seoul in 2014!

By the way, IFC building is 279m and not 284m.

God, in mid winter it is going to be death up there with the wind. It's not uncommon for wind chill to bring the temp down below -20C.

Really really great update though guys, thanks! It's really coming along. I went a saw it in person over the weekend and was just in awe at it's size. It seems that the connection from Jamsil Station to the mall is almost finished too.

It really is unbelievable just how wide so many of the streets are in Seoul. I remember that around Namdaemun, they're ten lanes! In the middle of the city!! It's crazy. I'm glad to see they're doing something to shrink the quantity of roadspace around this development.

Right
Even my hometown(geumcheongu: southern west of seoul) is 12 lanes wide road. But always traffic jam.

Do you think that too many people drive their own cars, or that there's not enough train and bus service, or do people just travel around Sudogwon a lot?

Grand Project we haven't seen in Seoul for a looong time!!

I wish they can reduce the traffic lanes and instead put up a Monorail system or something. I mean for commuting/transporting/ as well as for tourism (imagine the views you'll get to see around Seoul in a monorail)

As you know almost 20mill people live in Seoul metropolitan(same as LA metropolitan area but 5mill more). Even though Seoul already has world no.1 subway system, many buses and wide and many roads, these cannot cover. because too many people in this area. I think only problem is too many people.

People prefer drive their own cars. Also seoul's public transfer system is not enough for demands.

But as seoulian I am.....there is no needs car FOR LIVING IN SEOUL LIFE,,,subway and bus is very convenient and cheap....

How big is the base of Lotte Tower? It looks insanely bulky!

Do you mean the base of the tower or the mall around it? The base of the tower is visible in some renders; remember that not only is the tower now a bit less than half of its final height, but it narrows substantially from bottom to top as well.
