Wow, those pictures really help show just how massive this tower is. It's certain to become Seoul's landmark building.

With all the towers you have in Seoul, it still looks pretty flat. What a shame.

The tower is not even half way up. It'll look more in proportion the taller it gets. Give it time.

I was talking about Seoul, being flat. I say that because I see Lotte Tower looking big already and well noticable from such height. That shows how Seoul lacks in the term of tall towers.

It's important to remember that Seoul's towers are spread around a bunch of areas: Jongno, Yeouido, Seocho, Teheran-ro in Gangnam, and Jamsil. If Seoul had one center, instead of a whole bunch, it'd be a very impressive looking place, but it has several spread out over a very wide area.

All the better, as the natural setting takes far more precedence in the city, tbh.

Agreed. One of the things I found most visually impressive about Seoul was that no matter where you went, you could see mountains. Bukhansan National Park anywhere near the Han or north of it, Gwanaksan and the mountains to the southeast from anywhere south of the Han, and of course, Namsan right in the middle of the city, with Namsan Tower right on top (I refuse to call it "N Seoul Tower"). It's an incredibly scenic city, no matter which way you look.

In my opinion, those pics just shows how massive that Tower will be. Now its just almost half of the target height, can you imagine the Seuol skyline when this building will be built ? In my point of view it will look like quiet impressive.

Those photos cover all the central areas of Seoul. I can see as far as Jongno. Dogok with Samsung Tower Palace complex on the left etc...Still flat. Maybe you wanna have a look from the same height at NY or Chicago or Tokyo, you will experience a huge difference.

Well, as WingWing says, those photos were clearly taken from a very elevated location, none of which exists around or even near New York or Chicago, and only exists at quite a long distance away from Tokyo. All of those cities also have all of their skyscrapers in one area or along one strip of land, or in just a few centralized locations: upper and central Manhattan, the Loop, and Shinjuku, Minato, and Chuo. New York and Chicago also have towers which are much taller than anything currently in Tokyo or Seoul. Seoul also has the most microtopographical variation of those three cities, which tends to mess up the perception of height, although Tokyo isn't too far behind. Combine all of that with the absence of any geographical features to "ruin" the few (i.e., Namsan), and they appear to be much more vertical cities than Seoul.

Seoul has a bunch of essentially stand-alone areas of development, and the only clusters exist many km's apart from one another. Additionally, the width of Seoul's streets make the city seem less dense, both from within the city and from farther away--more gaps between even buildings that are right next to each other; the only exception to that is Jongno.

I'm not arguing that Seoul's skyline rivals New York, Chicago, or Tokyo; it's clearly not there yet. But the city is definitely not flat.

I try to not be an incessant Korea-booster (though I'll admit I feel I fail, often), but you, by contrast can always be counted on to ruin the party :/.
