Maybe the wood concrete forms caught on fire. Saw that happen when they were building the Stratosphere tower in Las Vegas in the early 1990s. Delayed construction over a year.

If the cranes are damaged it can be a long delay. I'm sure the concrete is fine, and probably didn't burn long enough to melt steel. If the cranes are okay, it shouldn't take long to restart construction.

So the world's slowest constructed supertall will now be even slower....

S. Korea has been talking about building a supertall before Taipei 101 was built, now 20 years later, they still don't have a supertall.

I think by the time S Korea completes a supertall, North Korea will have become a free country........

Here a news article in English about the fire:

http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news...16_151714.html

According to Lotte Engineering and Construction, the fire broke out in the steel container of a welding machine on the 47th floor at midnight and was extinguished within 25 minutes thanks to the swift reaction of firefighters.

It's no surprise that this guy is still saying the negative things toward S. korea as usual. Yeah, Some people have never changed.

According to this website, skyscrapercity, a supertall is definded a building over 300m.
By this standard, South korea has already two supertalls such as NEATT(Northeast Asia Trade Tower) and Busan Heaundae We've the Zenith Tower.
Therefore, you are totally wrong.

South Korea just currently doesn't have a completed building over 500m yet.
But how many countries in the world have such a tall building at this moment?
At least, S korea is stepping forward even at the slow pace and speed or whatever, while so many countries in the world didn't even take the first steps yet in terms of building supertall over 500m.

As for talking about supertalls, you know, it's quite good sign although those projects're not always fruitful.
It's much much much better than nothing ever proposed such a long long time.

Good, it sounds like there won't be too much of a delay. Hopefully, this tower doesn't come upon any other incidents or major issues in its second half.

NEATT: 305m
Busan Zenith Tower: 301 m

wow crazy supertalls!

Come on, you know he means REAL iconic supertall buildings that can compete globally. And not buildings that just barely fit into the official definition of "supertall" (1m above 300m...)

He is right when he says that construction projects go slow and with a lot of problems in Korea: LWT has often problems, Busan Lotte Tower has troubles, Seoul Lite had problems, Parc1 has problems, Incheon 102 Tower has problems, Busan WBC tower still didn't even start, Hyunday HQ has problems and Yongsan IBD was one of the biggest financial fails that I ever heard.

Of course its frustrating if so many projects fail, but I'm happy that LWT is going up, even though its slow

Of course, I know what he is trying to say.....he means "the REAL giantic supertall" !

But how many countries in the world have such REAL iconic supertall buildings which can compete globally AT THIS MOMENT?
ONLY few countries have such REAL monsters at this moment.
This means it is still a quite positive thing that such a small country like S korea is joinning this exclusive club even at the terrible slow speed or whatever, it's not for s korea to ascribe blame.

If someone wants to blame s korea for such problematic results,
then cast stone first to all countries that don't have the REAL giantic icon supertall or all countries that haven't proposed a real supertall for 20 years so far.

This is what I meant to say to Philip

You know, 6-7 years ago,
I vividly remember that many negative forumers here strongly insisted that south korea never build any supertalls, not a single supertall in the future.
At those days, I used to say.......
Only time will tell.

Who know the future?
