I'm sorry, but that's absolute BS. I know the history between the two countries, and I understand it's a sore point for the country. That doesn't however mean the building itself is ugly or should be removed.

The building can stand as a reminder of how far Seoul and Korea has come since it's colonial past. It's all about perspective.

I've lived in Korea for the last 2.5 years and I'm legitimately sick of hearing about it. If insulting someone online for sharing their opinion is your only solution, then you need to think a little harder. Grow up, and let's move on please.

Building can stand as a reminder of Korea's painful past. Is that what you want your parents and grand parents to be reminded of? Let me ask you something else. What had the Korean Gov. done with the Japanese colonial building that stood in place of the old GyeongBokGung prior to its restoration work. May I remind you, Seoul Gov. demolished it. Do Koreans regret they've ever got rid of part of their history? Most Koreans called it a closure.
You may insist that the old plaza building is just a thing and we should not think too much of it but unfortunately, for many others it is not as simple as you would like to conveniently put it. Now standing in the front of the new one it looks out of place. I insist that they must finish what they have started.

See, this is where you're wrong. I know very well about what happened in Korea. And I empathize with the Korean people. All I said was, I prefer the old city hall over the current, when you decided to go on some anti-Japanese tirade.

In regards to the building removed from Gyeongbukgung, although rather beautiful, it was inside the palace walls!! It should never have been built there in the first place.

But are you advocating for the removal of all the other colonial era buildings then? 구서울역? The Bank of Korea building?

I'm proud of Korea, as you are, so let's stop this now please.

Awesome, thanks a lot!

But the cladding is actually way, way higher, right?

Well, my diagrams are just a capped drawing of the full building, so they don't include the exact height of the cladding and perimeter construction, which is below the top of the core. As to the more detailed bottom 50 meters, that's where I first started doing this diagram so that is still of the original SSP drawing. Since then I have drawn the upper part myself (with less detail, I'm not good at drawing, LOL ) each time the building has risen
