It means that it's not artwork in the floor if you can stick a creditcard down into it. They are cracks that are not supposed to be there.

Amazing that Lotte was in such a hurry to open the mall when this happens. Bad press indeed.

Well I'm pro LWT, but in tiny cracks there could be huge disasters. So i'm asking: should one be worried about those cracks?

I agree. I live in Seoul most of the time myself these days and people do like the tower but are really worried. Not even about the cracks themselves, but about downplaying the potential dangers. Mostly, people are really afraid of another accident. After all, there has been some major accidents in the (recent) past which happend partly because of people not following regulations.

Think how damaging it could be to Korea's economy, too. Construction is one of the country's biggest and strongest industries, both domestically and abroad. SK, Samsung, Lotte, Hyundai, Doosan...they all have huge construction groups, and for everyone to lose faith in their ability and trustworthiness would be a huge blow to an economy that's on the cusp of being in real trouble.

This is something in which face saving (fixing a problem only after everyone realizes it's there) could be genuinely tragic. I think Korea is better than this.

Me, as well as you, I'm pro LWT, and pro anything Massively tall,, but awhile back there was a post on the ST thread, this crack was probably a city block worth,, (street, concrete, anything in it's path.) and they made it work, check it out, I couldn't begin to tell you where in that thread.. But the crack was much 100x the magnitude of this..

Wow, the way those fins on the cladding pick up the setting sun's light...very nice. This is going to be stunning once it's done.

I am very excited because such a wonderful tower is being built, but I hope the sink holes don't have anything to do with the tower, like the weight to the tower causing the land to sink.

As I recall, that was a crack in the asphalt of a road close to Shanghai Tower, and likely due to settling. The cracking in this case looks to be in the concrete of the lower parts of a massive building - yes, they may only be cosmetic in nature, but they are definitely more worrisome than a crack in the road near the Shanghai Tower. I really hope the cracks pictured turn out to be cosmetic in nature and that there is nothing structurally wrong with the LWT.
