The tallest building in Seoul after LWT is the Three International Finance Center in Yeouido with a height of 284m so that would be about twice as tall.
Nevertheless, it does really stand out. Seoul has only about 20 towers of approx. 200m and heigher.

LWT is mostly "just" 2 or 2.5 times higher than other towers in Seoul.

Here is a nice diagram of all towers in Seoul and their height:

The tallest tower in Seoul is 284 m tall, so do the math..

And there are few others who are well above 250 m..

This tower is isolated around an area that is not famous for tall towers, that's why you have this impression. Gangnam, Mok-Dong and Yeouido are all far away.

As kimahrikku1 predicted yesterday, the 3rd floor of the crown is now under construction

They started with the deconstruction of the external elevator, or at least half of it!
The upper half of the elevator will probably still stay longer.

The last picture is quite old (crown construction didn't even start), but i thought it still looks nice.

Seoul's First Supertall Dominates Skyline

Quote:
The building started construction in 2010 after a tumultuous approvals process. It took 15 years for Lotte to secure a building permit due to conflicts with a military airfield south of the city. In order to avoid blocking the flight path, Lotte agreed to fund a project that shifted the angle of the runway. Today, the building is topped out, having reached its final height in December 2015. Photos by Flickr user Inno Inno show the building's monumental impact on the cityscape. Construction on the long-awaited development is expected to finish this year.

The concert hall will open, like i mentioned a few posts before, on 18th of August 2016.
What makes me especially happy is that my small home country made again a nice contribution to the LWT project :

Quote:
A large pipe organ with 4,958 pipes is also notable. It is made and installed by Rieger Orgelbau,
a 171-year-old Austrian organ maker who made organs for globally-renowned concert halls including Musikverein in Vienna.

Make that 2x (approx). Other than the LWT, the IFC buildings in Yeouido - which the tallest of the three is 284m in height - would be another tall building that they have. But I agree with you in that I wish other tall buildings would rise and accompany this lonely giant. That said, you might see another supertall rising in the west of this building; the Hyundai GBC.

First it was up for completion in 2015, but then some technical problems and intermittent delays brought the fullfilment of the tower to 2016.

The scale of this tower is huge, so a year behind the schedule is not that bad.

The taller it gets, the better it looks!. I must say i didn't like it much as i looked at the renders then, but now, it looks fantastic. And that diagonalization looks superb.

Congratilations south Korea

PS: I thinks this looks soo much better than Freedom tower, Costanera Center, and The Shard...

I've been lurking on this thread for a while now; I'm obsessed with this building! I decided to actually post and say how fantastic I think it looks! I hope I can see it in person one day!
