Steel is not necessity faster than concrete.

I meant to say that having the concrete work done ahead of time would make the raising of the steel structure go faster than it would have gone if they were doing both the steel and concrete at the same time.

That is what I call a HUGE core. Incredible! It's enormous. Look at the size of that thing. You could paint it and use it as a skyscraper!

I wonder how many 432 park avenues can fit in there...

Yes, and the core is so big (Thick) that it doesn't look like it's over 30 stories tall already.

If you watch carefully at the latest pic, you'll see the thickness of external core walls has been reduced already, from level 24 up.
Anyway, according with some scheme leaked somewhere (maybe even into older pages of this thread) the core should stard reducing its size from level 42 up to 70, with an unprecedented truncated pyramid shape (if the schemes are reliable), and supercolumns should stop at level 78.

Is it just me or does the building look far wider than in the renders?

It's just you. The building will have 123 floors, and only 30 have been completed thus far. Imagine the current structure placed on top of itself four times and the building will begin to look slender to you.
