If a quake strikes right underneath the tower, it will then collapse in a matter of seconds if the magnitude is 7 or more.

That is one thing I remember about both Jamsil and a lot of other areas of Seoul; the streets are very, very wide. They should narrow them somehow to make the city more pedestrian-friendly. I know they were talking about doing that in Jongno by widening the sidewalks, adding bike lanes, and a tram system, but it's something they should find a way to do for other places, too.

Thanks for the clear up coth, as you understand most people have a strong association with richter scale and magnitude when it comes to measurement on earthquakes and are often confused with the intensity as that is seldom used when its been reported to the media.

Thanks for your detail explain.
Right I means 7.5 is base on "magnitude"
No offense or argue but aseismic design mean prepare right underneath.
For example burj kalipa aseismic design for 7 magnitude.
Also Sendai culture center endure 8.9 magnitude without damage in 11 march 2012(though 8floor building/little bit away from hypocenter)

Anyway it is just my opinions So you are make sense more persuade so i will search more about this topic.

What are you trying to say, Japanese cities don't have such street vendors cramming in the pedesterian space. But in Seoul they are everywhere and I actually love it. I don't see any ugliness in that.

You know,
to make more pedestrain friendly streets in Seoul, many highrises and skyscrapers have to be restricted in many areas with careful planning.
Because many skyscrapers usually create the huge volume of traffic in the streets.
That's why Seoul mayor is opposed to developing Seoul without thought for his citizens.(It is really ironic that you and Seoul mayor actually are of the same opinion. You always call him an idiot?)

Also, most of Seoul street vendors are registered llegally and they have the right to live and sell their goods in the street. There is nothing ugliness.
Don't you think that they are also important Seoul citizens?

I'm 100% agree with you dear Sister Ray.
Especailly orange and yellow tarpaulins is like a slum and insult to Seoul's image.
I recommend tourist who visist to seoul, "don't eat anything in Street vendor"
Because vendor cook all foods AND oden with "TOILET WATER"

Also Most of them illigal
I'm Really miss "Design Seoul" of predecessor Mr oh sea hoon.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I don't find ugliness from them.
Actually, they infuse life into the streets

One more. you have to learn local words properly, not oden. It's 어묵 or Odeng(오뎅, it's from janpanese words)!

people who are trying to kick poor street vendors out are much more UGLY.

The city has to be the place for everyone, even for the poor. That's the real good city.

AND STOP TALKING STREET VENDORS OR SEOUL MAYOR ANYMORE
THIS IS THE THREAD FOR LOTTE SUPER TOWER!
This thread is not for your pesonal agenda.

No offensive But You don't know korean situation(Where are you live? I'm live in seoul). Vendors is not poor.
Did You know? How much they buying and sell street vendor site with cash.
I don't know HONGKONG or JAPAN situation. But in Seoul If you want to sell street food(oden/Duckboki/kimbab) in CBD.
You have to pay at least $147,601 USD=163,000,000 won to BULLY. Can you imagine buying and sell pedestrian with illegal?
Pedestrian is not bully but seoul citizens own!
Also they vendor never ever pay "TAX" to seoul. Tax evasion is criminal! Furthermore vendor manage by bully! Are they poor?

Oh, bother, come on..
Stop talking street vendors ANYMORE!
Do I have to say that again?

As for the streets vendor, I am 100% sure that you know nothing about it. SIGH!
You have to learn their sistuations first. Go find street vendors whoever work in Jongno area at night. If they have so much money like you said, ask them why they work there all night long and how they got the money.
And how the city government control them.

Don't talk about street vendors to me again. Never ever! Period.

Thanks for the advice. I know "oden" is a Japanese word. That's why I omitted the final "g". English speakers use the romanized form of
"おでん" when referring to this food. As you can see, in Romaji, the last character is "n".

Is this building is using rebar in the core instead of the steel plates the chinese are using in their towers?

Even though you live in Seoul, it seems that you know nothing about the city or even about how a real complete modern metropolis should look like nowadays.

If they were to pay that huge sum of money, think they might have opened a store instead, not standing in a stall in extreme conditions (Summer and winter) at least 15 hours a day to feed themeseves and their kids. Gimme a break.

And that's not off topic!! People are open to discuss anything as far as this project is concerned. This topic we're talking about is part of the image of this building and thus everyone is welcome to put their thoughts on that.
But actually you are the one who always start to bash tha mayor and rouse such side talks, don't you?.
