The first six of the 90 double-decker buses that will serve Mexico City's seventh Metrobús BRT line have arrived in the Mexican capital. The buses were unveiled by Mexico City mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera during a ceremony held on July 26, which was attended by UK government officials. The remaining buses are expected to continue arriving gradually through September. The new vehicles were purchased via an agreement with the British government, which provided financing, technical and logistical support.

Line No. 7 will serve 100,000 passengers daily and cover 15km, from Indios Verdes to Santa Fe, passing along Reforma Avenue and going through the Gustavo A. Madero, Cuauhtémoc, Miguel Hidalgo, Álvaro Obregón and Cuajimalpa districts of the capital. The US$98mn project includes construction of 31 passenger stations. The new line will connect to Metrobus lines No. 1, 3, 4 and 6, in addition to lines No. 2, 3, 5 and 7 of the Mexico City metro system.

Progress of the construction works is reportedly at around the 40% mark, with the line set to start operations in October.
