I think the blue boxy building in front of OPT is a really bad idea. I know that it was built quite early in the Pudong Plan but its just an eye sore. OPT should be left clear for people to see in all directions. Now with the new 100m tower building built, that once more removes an angle from which the OPT can be seen without obstruction. Unlike other TV towers, OPT has a big ball towards the lower part of the tower which cannot be obstructed. Otherwise it will just look ridiculous. Obstructing the legs is already a big no no

Thanks, that would be a great addition to the skyline, low rise building like this near the waterfront actually has more impact on the skyline than a 200+ building located further inland.

If you've seen the render, you won't say that.

It's not so bad compare to the disaster that is the Ping'An building.

I think the render is crap and the outcome will look better.

We all hope that would be the case, but the truth is, chinese have come up with some shocking designs in the past...

LOL, that does look kinda weird... why can't they use the precious space wisely and build something great. Not something too tall as it will diminish the OPT's grand effect, but at least something that looks good to the eye.

I like the look of the neighborhood that surrounds this building. It looks like there is a lot going on at the street level.

yes they need a new area to construct supertalls in SHANGHAI so they need to demolish more houses from other central areas

Yeah, this area around Suzhou River is planned to become a new CBD.

I think it looks great. A gem for the skyline.

really?

Can't they just build more on Lujiazui and add to the skyline? I thought its still just the beginning and Lujiazui would be incredible - even more so than currently. And they can reduce plot sizes and make it more dense.

This doesn't mean that they won't built in Lujiazui anymore, but there aren't many plots left in Lujiazui.

Kinda wish they would block out ALL of OPT because I've never been a fan of it...

Hmmm, I think they made their plot sizes too big. Walking in Lujiazui myself few years back, I found it quite a nuisance (not really, but in concern with skyscraper/urban planning enthusiasts perspective) to walk around a huge base, much of it useless.

I hope they reduce their plot size when they want to build more skyscrapers nearby. Lujiazui is one of the images of future China and it must be used wisely!!
