If you destroyed a 100 year old painting, then re-painted a replica, it wouldn't be considered preservation.
That only applies to Bay Adelaide which is a replica of the old building. 11 St Joseph, for example, is a rebuilt historical facade more in tune to artists repairing cracked and chipped frescos.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Bay-Adelaide wasn't preservation. Neither is Burano. This proposal?

Burano, AFAIK, will be a reconstruction of the original facade.

Looks like wobbly lattice glued onto a pretty standard tower.

There are better images out there:

Restoration of the Yonge Street retail block

I was really worried that they were going to destroy the laneway. I love that alley and assumed Toronto would never recognize how wonderful it is.

This made me very happy. Looks like Toronto will get a funky pedestrian only retail strip after all. Melbourne and London have them, now we will too. How cool is this! Hopefully, the other laneways in downtown Toronto will get the same treatment instead of being destroyed.

Retaining the historic laneway, renovating it, and the encouragement of retail

Those renderings look much better. I am sooooo relieved that they are not ripping down the Yonge Street buildings.

I thought you'd be very pleased. I'm happy about both, but was more concerned about the laneway. It's the last good alley downtown. If this one went, what other would be left?

It's 45s, not 47. And it's basically sold out. The first photo above was taken by me.

Units here were a lot pricier than at most of the other condos I went to see.

What does the 45 refer to? The project is called "Five", right?

I miss counted, can you change the title of the thread to say 45 not 47.

Ok, but I'm still in the dark. What does the 45 refer to?

The restoration of the store fronts along Yonge is a great treat.

I was wondering why this one was not being "threaded" here...
Nice base, preserving some of the old.

He rejected the standard template for thread titles, that's all.
