I know . But it could also be a typo (he pressed the 3 key instead of 2 key on his keyboard). I don't think that the future AADT is requiring 2x3 lanes.

Total mistake... They've should arrange project like that on the section Kumanovo-Kriva Palanka-Bulgarian border!

In my opinion, this is a completely redundant motorway. Why don't they put all efforts into finishing the missing part of A1?

Isn't it cheaper to build a motorway from Veles to Štip?

Sorry guys, I wanted to write 2x3 lanes...

The highway is not redundant, because it means economic revival of the eastern part of Macedonia, which is quite economically neglected by the government.

Which numbering is planned? When will it be completed? Is there a project page?
I will try to find more information about your questions and I will post the answers here.

My guess is that the government wants to connect the city of Sveti Nikole with highway in both directions - to Skopje and to Shtip... But I'm just guessing, if I find the right info I will post the answer here.

OK, i just find out that the Skopje-Sveti Nikole section is going to be A4н, the Sveti Nikole-Shtip section is going to be A4e, while the Kichevo-Ohrid highway is going to be A2e.

The newest map is here.

BTW, the completion of Skopje-Shtip is going to be in 2018, and the completion of Kichevo-Ohrid is going to be before the end of 2017 (if everything goes by the schedule, of course).

Does this new road also feature (at least) 2x2 lanes? (I guess yes, according to wikipedia) Will it be grade-separated and access-controlled? Is it already u/c?

Well, according the media, it's going to be 2x3 lanes highway.

I presume, but I'm not sure.

Actually, the construction works began today. Some pics from the official ceremony...

On this photo you can see the terrain of the construction works for the highway

The sign says something like "Avtopatska delintsa", which sounds like a motorway, but my Macedonian is highly limited.

it says "izgradba na avtopatska delnica Kičevo - Ohrid", so it should be motorway. also, i see at that board that Chinese are building it.

It actually means "highway section"... And, yes, the Chinese company is going to build it. They are obligated to hire 51% of the workforce from Macedonia, and also 49% of the materials for the construction works to be from Macedonia.

This highway is part of the Corridor 8 (Bulgaria-Macedonia-Albania)

Skopje on this map is misplaced (it should be on the north side of the country, but whatever)

Does this mean that in this motorway will be repeated the Katlanovo - Veles solution, two split carriageways in different routes, of the same motorway, from Point A to point B in the map below? Or perhaps, it's going to be build another cariageway to the existing highway Kichevo - Ohrid (upgrade of highway to motorway)?

I think that it's going to be build another cariageway to the existing highway Kichevo - Ohrid (upgrade of highway to motorway), just like you've shown on the map.

There are no plans as for that section. More important I would point to our neighbors (Except Serbia and Kosovo) the rest are not interested to upgrade the international routes and to connect with our routes, so that is more sad. Bulgaria should build its own section from Dupnitsa to Kuystendil and tothe border, but why not also Albania to connect Tirana via Dures and then to Struga?
