On topic: Perhaps I can do the A3 on thursday, a pretty quiet and nice stretch of motorway.
Great!
I found a pic of it on wikipedia but I can't seem to make it work - probably some nasty copyright stuff.
Anyway, the A3 will be extended to the Hungarian border in 2011.

I will also travel on the A4, A1, A12 and A13 in around two weeks, I hope I will manage to get my hands on a camera until then (keeping fingers crossed )!

They didn't "choose Austria", they chose a company that happened to be based there. We get that you love struma and everything else is shit, so will you now STFU already? Your statements make as much sense as a fridge on the north pole.

Sorry to everyone else for pouring even more fuel on this fire, but I have a feeling mine aren't the only nerves he's getting on. I'll stop now.

I set you on my ignorelist because you are way too ignorant, instead of saying, yeah Strabag did it wrong you insult me and protect austria, protect who you want, did someone pay you for protecting Austria and helping the austrian guy?

A3 - Süd-Ost-Autobahn

A3 - Süd-Ost-Autobahn

Length: 38 km
Provinces: Lower Austria, Burgenland

Linking the A2 (Südautobahn, Vienna-IT/SI) with Eisenstadt, the capital of Burgenland and, from 2011, the Hungarian border.

W-E:

Still on A2, Guntramsdorf interchange:

Landscape next to the motorway.

Note that "Eisenstadt" and "Eisenstadt interchange" are not identical. To get to Eisenstadt center, you'll have to follow S31 at the end of A3.

Eisenstadt interchange. S31 can be accessed via the right lane. If Sopron/HU is your destination, you have to continue on an ordinary highway (B-number):

Klingenbach is the name of the border point. Neusiedl and Mattersburg are "major" communities in the province of Burgenland.

The pics look good, i forgot that in Austria Asfinak builds the motorways, they probably are kickass, probably it would be good to get them to Bulgaria but Strabag, no way.

Many kms of highways are built by Strabag here, in HU, but there are no problems with their work...

o, it´s quite huge, so enjoy it in a few days

... i´m not interested in any discussions.

But if there was a problem with strabag, i´m sure they will find a solution.

Do you, well, i don´t think so.

X-type, the Austrian Zollstellen look pretty modern, with many signs like usual in Austria. There is a sign, nur 3 Sekunden, only 3 seconds on the Tauerntunnel Zollstelle, also some signs, bitte Geld passend haben, as far as i remember.

Btw, i decided to be neutral against Austrians again and not be against them because of some nationalistic people in alpine villages in Austria, i hope the good Austrian people will be neutral to me aswell.

you're talking about Mautstellen (toll gates), but they would be interesting to see, too! indeed!
Zollstellen are border crossings. in Austria i saw only Spielfeld, Neunagelberg (it is very pitoresque, pitty i haven't photographed it ) and this one at road 310, i don't know it's name (at Czech side it is Dolní Dvořište), but i'd like to see those with Hungary, Switzerland, Slovakia and Germany (if there are some left).

btw, here in Croatia Strabag has done job quite well, but they are expensive

And to add:
Zoll is only relevant at Non-Schengen borders, obviously.

Customs checks are sometimes still in place between Schengen countries.

Sometimes you see Dutch police at the border checking every van out southeastern Europe Balkan countries. Because of drug trafficking, and there are some criminal Albanian and Yugoslavian gangs active in the German/Dutch border regions.

Same here. I can't recall border controls but I do remember that police made all these (usually white) vans leave the motorway (A2) for thourough (?) checks. All traffic was led into some kind of checkpoint, ordinary cars didn't have to stop, however.

And btw, "Zoll" means "customs" and doesn't apply within EU anymore.

I guess you won't see this then, or maybe you get curious and unignore me just to see what I said about you. How have I insulted you, and what's with the obsession with Austria? I didn't know this was the Infrastructure Olympics.
