we had similar situation in HR at A1 (i'm not sure, maybe it still exists, not sure). so, sproaching the toll station Lučko from the south there were (are) signs for motorway end, just because A1 ends at that intersection but the motorway continues (A3), so it would be much more appropriate to place motorway-ends signs in direction Zagreb after intersection.

The last two pics remind me of my childhood days. Driving down to Italy with the whole family. Happy days!

L200 Bregenzerwaldstraße yesterday. At some point I was stuck for an hour, because an avalanche went over the street and I had to wait till it was cleared. I was lucky because later that day the street was closed completely and it still is.

I am planning a trip for Eastern period, from Ingolstadt to Wil, St. Gallen, Switzerland.
I guess the best route would be http://g.co/maps/jzpba
Is it worth it to choose the motorway (and pay the toll also), or maybe go for the Landstrassen?
I would like to see nice scenaries if possible.

Maps is calculating +30min one way (http://g.co/maps/kvmym) = 1h for 37€ (33€ Vignette CH + 2x2€ Korridor Bregenz)

If I remember well there is some kind of special 1-day vignette in Austria for Bregenz corridor (exactly for those that are taking the route you will drive on). It's something like 2-3 € so driving on that Austrian autobahn is not that expensive.

So you mean, I don't need the 8€ toll sticker for the whole Autobahn network?

EDIT: I found my answer http://www.austria.info/media/7772/F...orvignette.pdf

Exactly. Here you can see points of sale and the extension of the Korridorvignette:

What's the best route coming from Chiemsee, to Salzburg, without toll?
http://g.co/maps/kty4e

I want to visit Salzburg tomorrow (so complete route http://g.co/maps/e8aa2).
So also, some advices are welcome, were it's best to park the car.
Is tourist info opened on Saturday?

I'd say this one:

I parked here:
http://maps.google.it/maps?q=47.7978...num=1&t=m&z=18

it's an underground parking really close to the Altstadt, but it's quite expensive.

I'm not really sure, but isn't the Austrian Autobahn free of charge between the border crossing and the first exit? If it's like this I would suggest this route (first exist is autobahn/autobahn, so it has to be free until the second one).

If it's not free than I would sugest this route.

Even if it is just for a few hundred meters, you need a vignette... On top, ASFINAG controls quite often at the first exit after the border.

OK, so I will just enter Austria on the Landstrasse.
It's not much of a detour .

Depending on what parking to use, either North or South of the motorway.

Danke!

You can go back here. And what's with this interchange? Can you use it?

No, it's only that all parts where you pay per km are exempt from vignette system, on borders it means Karawanken tunnel (if you exit just after tunnel it's ok) and Brenner Autobahn (you can go all the way to Innsbruck without vignette). Similar in Slovenia, the only vignette-free part is if you leave motorway just after Karavanke tunnel. Though in practice it's usually not enforced (controlled) before the first exit when entering the country.

I used g.spinoza's route for entering Austria and Verso's route for way back.
As for parking, we arrived around 16:00, time at which short parking ends on Saturday. And we found a perfect spot at Großes Festspielhaus:
