Melbourne's rail system is an even bigger basket case.

Yeah just check which one actually carries passengers

I'm rather over the trains near my palace only running every 20 minutes on a weekend and already having nearly every seat taken when I get on, eventually having a peak hour crush load when they get to the city, on a train with nearly 500 seats.

Meanwhile Adelaide's trains on a weekend run every hour on half the lines and only have one single half-full carriage.

true.
What you've said is fairly trivial and in the normal course of events.

But because you've changed what I wrote, I'm reporting you.

While the Adelaide - Mawson Lakes section will be closed this long weekend.

A Transport Department spokesman said the temporary closure of the entire Gawler line this weekend would allow for essential works as part of the upgrade. And to minimise the disruption to commuters, the department is undertaking these works on the Adelaide Cup Long Weekend.

"We will use this opportunity to undertake final testing and commissioning works, in preparation for the full re-opening of the Gawler line in coming weeks," he said.

"Substitute bus services will be in place for the duration of the weekend closure."

He said commuters are being informed of the closure through flyers, signage at stations, bus stops and InfoCentres as well as information on the Adelaide Metro website.

Still looks like a bit of work to go there, gonna be a busy "few weeks" getting it ready.

I took some pics of the old Elizabeth Station back in January 2011, for an Adelaide station it was quite decent but for an interstate standard it was a bit meh, just a basic late 1990s construction.
