Wow. Incheon Songdo is one massive development project. 1,500 acre site, a $30 billion being spent right now and more investments coming on the way. Several supertalls including Incheon tower, NATC, POSCO tower & etc. Man, this will be one giant skyscraper city come the Incheon Asian games in 2014.

This project should be the replacement of the World Trade Centre in N.Y. A modern version of the twin tower.

world bank center? never heard of that, is that proposed?

The skybridges have same mechanic as petronas tower right (not fixed in position but able to swing itself between the towers) to prevent any damage.

Please note the following information on this project:

I met with the Director of the IFEZ Investment Management Team today, who is from my understanding, also the person in charge of this project (Incheon Towers).

This tower is part of a zone called Songdo Landmark City Project. The land for this area is yet to be reclaimed, however the towers construction will be facilitated by the building of sea walls around its immediate construction area.

The architectural design process is complete (except for minor details/interior).

All soil testing is complete.

All governmental approval processes are complete.

The sea walls that will allow construction of the tower are due to themselves be constructed in late September/early October and it is anticipated that these walls will take up to 3 months to complete.

The bottom line as far as 'under construction' goes is that the date for the first pylons is Jan 2009.

If I get time this weekend I'll post some pics and personal thoughts on the Incheon FEZ project in the Korea section as a follow up to this post.

PS: anticipated completion date 2013.

The sea walls for this tower will take less than the Chicago Spire's core wall thing (which is taking centuries) to complete right?

closest way to say it is Inchun.

U not pronounced (iu) but more like how you say u in the word 'cup'.

Would the new podium put in the bottom of the tower make the tower less tolerate to the wind compared to the older render?
