I didn't realize that the Frankfurt downtown area was so spread out in terms of skyscrapers.

this isn큧 actually the downtown area. you can see bits of downtown in the distance. this area is near the trade fair grounds and with a couple of skyscrapers under construction and planned there this area will become the second major skyscraper cluster after the banking district.

First real rendering of the Skyline Plaza shopping center.
There will be some redesign though, according to Vivico.

Hanging out for the interior views. I really hope this will be unique inside and not just another run of the mill mall.

The render above is making me sweat heavily:

_does it mean that the 212m tower is canceled?
_does it mean that the Millennium Tower is canceled?

WFT?!

Hum... Really doesn't look like there will be much space left for either tower but if you say so.

Sure hope they're gonna stick to the design of the tower. It's one of my favorite projects in Europe.

T365 is going behind the skyline plaza and the grand hyatt congress center (some buildings need to be demolished first).

the skyline plaza won't cover the entire site - space for T1 will be left (you can see it in other skyline plaza renderings, I post one, when I find it again).

here you can see a model photographed by beggi from the german forum. you can see there is plenty of room for both: T1 and T365:

The Skyline Plaza looks too conventional compared to the other new Frankfurt shopping mall, MyZeil. In fact, I strongly hope that it will not be built the way it is shown. Without a differentiating factor (theater, swimming, movies, aquarium, museum), this mall will fail to attract needed customers. Overall, pretty disappointing!

Very good point. Actually though, I find the exterior to be very elegant and even nicer than the exterior of MyZeil. (And I like the exterior of MyZeil).

The key will be inside, and as you say, if it is bland and conventional it would be a great disappointment. This area is so close to downtown that if it is not something special, this mall will be doomed to fail.

streets

Too bad they are cutting off the pedestrian way to the city after rebuilding the Europaallee... Everybody who wants to go from his new flat out there to the Westend will end up shopping in the mall.
Doesn't we have Democracy ? We need an open and public walkway for everybody from Europaalee to Castor & Pollux to the Westend, otherwise people will be forced to enter a mall and that should be impossible in a society like ours.

the way around the skyline plaza is not that long, if you don't want to use the mall.

there is a new website for this development. not many infos yet, but some interesting plans of the mall - including first plans of the spectacular public roof.

i don`t see the problem here.. as i heard, the direct walkway through the mall will be open 24hours a day, and they cant force you to buy something there everytime you walk through... additionally you won`t get wet while walking there when it rains.. so whats the problem?

I don't see the problem either. And who has a fundamental problem with this kind of semipublic space can always walk around the mall. Its not like people have a right to walk directly through a building.

bussi now ?

I think the floor plan and the entrance looks like a mouth that might give you a kiss - like the image on the gib bussi drinks ! But I think you will get as much bussi in the skyline Plaza as you get, when you drink the bussi drink : --- NO BUSSI ! --- It is just a lie to make the people go there shopping.
