That proposal for 182 Lambton Qy appeared in Saturday's DomPost - it's going to be turned into a hotel with 8 extra storeys. The article isn't online though.

Sounds good. Somebody here needs to do a roundup of all the current projects in our capital! In my humble opinion it should really be a local who starts the new development threads, for sake of continuity, freshness, accuracy...I could go on. This is basically the reason why the NZ developments thread was started. For example; a Napier rep to do Napier, a TGA rep to do TGA, AKL to do AKL, WLG to do WLG, CHC to do CHC & if the need ever arose & we had Queenstown/Dunedin/Hamilton/Palmy/New Plymouth etc etc... reps the they should be offered that. I think post #1 should be reserved for a compilation of projects - anyone else agree? A suggestion for the future anyway!

It looks a bit like an Empire State Building wannabe.

Its got a render of a building at 76 willis st. It appears to be just a tiny bit taller than the majestic centre, but it says its the building site for sale it doesn't say anything about a building being built there. Unless when selling a building site like that the person selling it has a building in mind already.

Well obviously its not a concrete proposal, so not really alot to get excited about. WellUrban commented on a rumoured tower in this vicinity not long ago, so this development site is probably the one referred to then. Is there a developer bold enough to snap it up and build something inspiring for Wellington?

LOL Pedo Bear is so Cute ....
Thanks for Scanning that Adam , I guess the design could change a fair bit , depending on what the purchaser requires for the site ...I would imagine Mixed use

95 metres is the height limit, however there is special permission to go 35% over a height limit. The maritime building is 70 metres high even though the height limit is 60m. So it could theoretically go up to 128m.
Also consider the majestic centre is already 116m in a 95m height restriction area. I don't see why they wouldn't allow a building higher than 95m if theres one already higher than that right next to it. |

It looks a major re-design from the original proposal. The north end somewhat resembles a spinnaker.

Had a look today, there is something going on on the empty site opposite Railway Station.
The site is fenced with diggers getting ready to go. |

On a side note, I've been reading the Use your imagination on Auckland thread, and it got me thinking about the same for WLG. To take just one example, I'm hoping that Murphy's Law will crash a truck or bus into the Duxton Hotel window front, presenting a rare opportunity for Athfield/Walker/Warren/StudioPacific/ArchWorkshop to redesign it.
