GPE Tooley St scheme is to be taken by Southwark council. This has some implications for the E&C redevelopment as news this week seems to be saying the shortlist has been delayed until July as the developers are asking who will be the anchor office tenant for all the office space southwark wants for the development at E&C.

Lords have voted to limit a Mayor of London to only 2 terms, in a direct attack in my opinion on Ken Livingstone. Hopefully the Commons will stop it. |

Good news from Jef on SSP regarding the 140m Marshwall Tower, and central London too:
"Good news re. the residential development at 22 Marsh Wall / Canary Wharf. Young Property Portfolio manager has purchased the freehold of the 45-storey East Tower, also to be known as "The Landmark" for £400 million. The acquisition comes 6 months after the firm purchased the 31-storeys West Tower. The 45-storeys tower will be marketed to both private and institutional investors. The development will be built by Chalegrove Properties. Completion is due in 2010. Other news: Qatar and Dubai investors and Gulf-based funds who bought the forthcoming 288m Pinnacle and 202m Heron Tower in the City have teamed up to create a new vehicle looking at investing oil-money into other development opportunities in Central London." So it looks like we could see more projects being funded, or perhapse even being proposed by this new joint venture

I don't know like... They seem to have an infatuation with having the tallest and best
![]() Maybe they will help fund the Shard too? I think it's the only one that needs it now. |

little confused about the young group announcement as these guys are already a group open to investors ... infact thats how they raise the capital. it was inevitable theyd purchase both towers.

what are the chances of an even taller building than the pinnacle being built in the city, i kno CAA rules cancel out much option, but maybe they could bend the rules just for once, because in a lot of renders it looks like there is a huge empty gap between the pinnacle and its neighbours which seems to suggest a much taller building could be built to seal the skyline

The problem, I believe, actually lies with the cranes. If they had a way to build without cranes, they could probably build up to 330-340m-ish.
Is that correct? |

Couldn't engineers try out a new system, just like rising a core but instead rising a whole building. What I mean is having a barrier type thing in the shape of the building's floor plates, then gruadually it rising with the workers working in the barrier so it looks as if a completed building is rising and rising ![]() Don't know if that makes much sense? Think Doka. But not just for the core, the whole building!
