Wonder if they do Hendersons relish with the pies ?
Nah its just the place name thats the same, there's so many references to england over here, not so much in auckland but christchurch looks very english and a lot of the street names are named after english people and places
Must be Classy establishment in that 2 to last photo there then 84, and second to top one looks a very modern place.
lol the pic with the homeless bloke in, is the exit to the St james theatre, its not a theatre like the lyceum, its just a name, its like a music venue, loads of bands play there, kinda like aucklands version of the carling academy but not as cool and a lot more run down

When I was working in a camera shop (bit over a year ago) I couldn't stand the Sony SLR's. We all thought they were a bit of a joke really as they seemed so plasticky and toy like. Don't really know what they're like on the picture side (RPG gets some excellent results from his), but us at the store wouldn't recommend anything but Canon or Nikon. |

The only reason i took a shine to the a700 is cos i had a play around with one and its seemed pretty good, i just want something that isnt a noise prone as the D80 as i love night photography

The bloke in the camera shop is clearly a Nikon fanboy :P Little does he probably realise that the image sensor and the image processors in the new Nikons (D300, D3) are made by Sony ![]() The a100 was basically a rebadged Minolta 5D, and the a700 is a rebadged 7D with a better image processor and sensor. I bought into the alpha system cos I'd got really good Minolta lenses already, so it seemed a sensible option for me. Then I got bored of it, couldn't justify waiting for the a900 to appear, so I went for a Canon 40D and haven't looked back since! Still use the a100 as a second body if I'm out doing work and can't be arsed to change lenses. |

same!
yes, that tower does look a little like NRQ 5R, but I think that the one in Auckland is built as a straight regular hexagon section (or even octagon? Difficult to tell) whereas the NRQ 5R is a triangle section wit the corners shaved off, creating three longer sides and three shorter sides.

Was that the radio 1 Roadshow in Maidstone then the Last weekend Mukkjoy ?
Your welcome to post Unusual stuff up here Are they getting too fussy in the National section. Like the little lad with The Air Horn, wonder if his dads deaf yet ! Need the sun classes for the last one ![]() How come the 3rd one looks like its an old 70's photo ? Heard some of the build up on the radio on Friday when coming back from Your end of the country. Had a trip to Excel, But it was a bit Hazey over London, so didn't bother trying to photograph docklands this time. But must have a trip into the city some time, but Ken makes it a dear job to just pop in on the way through with the highway robbery tax.

i find posting on the national section a bit.....well stuck up. if your not posting pictures of buildings or a tour of a place it can be taken the wrong way. sometimes it's nice to post pictures that you like or are happy with the tectique and get a few comments without the third degree on whether it should have been posted or warrant a new thread. so well done paulmat for starting this one, just a shame it's its a bugger to find for us southerners .the other thing i live in kent NOT LONDON and the London area talks about London and nothing further south. i thought about starting something for kent but i don't think there's many people actually from kent on SSC .the look of the 3rd photo is a bit of a phase I'm going through (strangely buy myself a DSLR with great picture quality and then want its results to look scratched and wrongly exposed ) i getting into the Holga camera style of photography which i personally think gives great results. most of the people i took photos of that day were random's (i took alot more)except the LADY (i have to say that )with the straw hat who is my wife. i liked the boy with the horn and his dad because i just thought it was a cool bonding thing, just look at how proud his dad is in the photo. i asked him if i could take his picture and that I'd post it on the internet if i could. a top tip for anyone else wanting to do the same (makes them feel special!).again thanks for the comments and the ones below

I like the effect you've got with that 3rd photo down. Works really well in that shot.
I'm trying to get myself to go a bit more back to basics. Thinking of getting mi'sen a 50mm fixed lens, and just taking that round with me (most of the time). Could be interesting... Also, it'd mean i'm not constantly thinking 'would this be better zoomed in more', 'should I use my other lens' etc. |
