I dont know what to think of this. At some views it looks elegant , others looks like a jumbled mess, trying too hard to be the next Eiffel Tower.

In 2 minds. It might grow on you. Im sure people said the same about the now iconic Paris masterpiece

I agree, from below it looks really great but imagine if it was white or chrome.. it would look so much better. I loved it at first, then i hated it now i love it again!

Looks like a roller coaster while previous proposal reminded me of an electricity pylon.

I actually really like the mock up as seen before, not the new tower design.

Its not as good as it could have been.

A segway could come in handy in the Olympic park.

Hopefully they ordered the trees for the park as soon as we won the bid, or maybe even have acquired mature ones to plant.

From last year:

Around 2,000 semi-mature British-grown trees have been hand-picked for the London 2012 Olympic Park in what is thought will be the largest one-off planting of its kind in the capital.

The trees will form the roots of the 100 hectare park that will provide a colourful setting and festival atmosphere for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and a green space for people and wildlife in legacy. The four to seven metre high trees have been grown by the selected supplier, Hilliers Nurseries in Hampshire, which has worked on projects including the 1951 Festival of Britain, the Manchester Commonwealth Games Stadium and the Millennium Dome.

Renders of the park from the 2012 website.

Thanks RobH for pointing me to the renders of the park from the 2012 website. I hadn't seen these posted on here before, I tracked back but couldn't find them posted anywhere so I hope they are not old renders.

Shame the renders were created before the Orbit tower was announced - perhaps one you Photoshop wizards can slot it in.
Does anyone know if the wind turbine is still being built now that EDF have pulled out.

Great renders! Legacy is definitely a vital aspect in the London 2012 project.

Wetlands.

Landscaping works in the north of the Olympic Park show the riverbanks taking shape. 100 hectares of parklands will provide a colourful and festival atmosphere for London 2012 and afterwards become the largest new urban park in the UK for over 100 years.

Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) Chairman John Armitt visits Thetford, Norfolk where over 300,000 wetland plants are being grown in preparation for the UK's largest ever urban river and wetland planting at the Olympic Park.

Work is underway to create over 100 hectares of parklands, on former industrial land, that will provide a colourful and festival atmosphere for London 2012 and afterwards become the largest new urban park in the UK for over 100 years. Picture shows: A view north across the River Lea and new wetlands towards the Velodrome

Handball Arena.

Sorry but that's the Basketball Arena not the Handball Arena in the picture above. The handball Arena is next to Hackney Wick station near the Energy Centre.
