No, it's 2+1. The road on the left is a one-way road, clearly visible in Google Maps.

Yes, obviously. But I think the right roadway used to be used by both directions. It's weird though, it's only a short section.

Probably the right lane is/was planned for widening, but this obviously never happened.

Last night a landslide happened on A1 between Cetrano and Frosinone. Due to heavy rains a section of the hill next to the motorway slided on it, burying a truck and a van. One died and two people were badly injured. The section of the motorway was closed for some hours to allow search and rescue of people beneath the slide of mud and trees and to free the motorway from debris.

Marco Polo? Couldn't that have stayed A27? I think it was also better than "A57 diramazione aeroporto".

Most of them are already existing, under construction or with a planned widening.

I may be completely mistaken, but I think that the colour coding in the picture highlights exactly that:
- blue: projects already completed
- green: projects currently underway (though I have to say that the project east of Linate does not ring a bell to me)
- yellow: projects in their planning / approval phase
- red: distant future / very early plans

It's a nice overview though...

Yep... but I think the map is a bit old, as all the blue ones are completed, while many green ones are currently under costruction... as coccodrillo said, many ones are widening of existing stretches

What project East of Linate are you referring?

Anyway: SE of Linate is Paullese full upgrade into expressway, same for Cassanese and Rivoltana, NE of Linate; then there is Tangenziale Est Esterna bypass and BreBeMi, the new direct highway to Brescia currently u/c

It was the Paullese that I was referring to. Somehow I was under the impression that the Paullese would not go beyond the TEE, so its extension towards Crema was a pleasant surprise. Is there any chance that it might be extended further towards Cremona? Together with the plans for a motorway between Cremona and Mantova and an expressway east of Mantova, it would make a good new east-west route.

The map shows that Paullese after crema already is an expressway, but I don't think so.
Probably in the future there will be an upgrade even of the Crema-Cremona branch (even if most of the traffic is in Crema-Milano branch due to the commuters) but I don't think there is a project yet

Anyway Paullese upgrade towards Crema shouldn't be that difficult as it is an expressway 'de facto' in its first section and got sections prepared for the widening

I disagree, that looks great, I wish we'd have such roads going through the city here, but that will probably never happen.

Urban highways are awesome.

Again about Paullese; this post shows the work in progress on February of the widening in Peschiera-Pantigliate stretch

The red colour indicates future planned motorways in the area of Milano; so, they planning a motorway through the city?

A tunnel 15 km long

Someone announced they'll start to build it within the end of 2011, but next month there are the polls for Milan's Mayor

I am just going back from Italy and drove on raccordo Gorizia-Vilesse. The whole section is under reconstruction and temporary 1+1. Progress of the works seems very nice. Does somebody know when is it scheduled to be finished and will it get an A number?

One and half lane road with an average traffic of 10.000 vehicles per day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo40EenYO3U

Works started in the 1990s for a 3 km tunnel but were never completed. They started again only when a national television pubblicised the problem (the red puppet). Opening was then promised by February 2011, but it has been moved again to September 2011. Can we believe it?

Map: http://maps.google.ch/maps?f=d&sourc...77162&t=h&z=14

The text at the end of the film says "should we look for alternatives???"...to say that there is absolutely no alternative to this tunnel but the lake.
