I used that site too

i usually use asf.fr, dgt.es, tcs.ch, oeamtc.at, verkehrsinfo.de, vid.nl, verkeerscentrum.be for traffic information.

Thank you very much!

This is the situation today:

Quite good, some problems of the usual part between Rimini and Riccione.
Tonight or in the late afternoon, will probably get worse due to the return to the cities of some millions people that went only for a week end to the sea.

Instead going to south, on the A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria the situation is really hard, with a lot of parts completely blocked.

Here is a small summary of the actual situation of the Autostrade:

The A2 ceased to exist, when the A1 was extended near Roma. The A2 used to go from Roma to Nápoli / Caserta.

yep, when they completed the extension in order to avoid the use of the circular of Roma (G.R.A.) going to Milano to Napoli, the use of A2 disappeared.

A bit more south. Picture is taken from castle in town Scilla.
But yes, there is similar viaduct near Pizzo (didn't take picture). I must say, that motorway around Scilla is probably the most impressive and spectacular part of autostrada A3 and even with 1+1 lane traffic (construction works) definitely a joy to ride - at least for sightseeing.

Regarding traffic jams on A14: Any plans to relieve traffic jams around Bologna? If I knew, that I would wait for more than 1 hour in morning rush-hour before Bologna on A13, I would rather go around on A22. Few 20 or 30 km more to drive, but as I've heard no traffic jams and toll stays the same. It doesn't seem, that widening of A14 parallel to tangenziale will help a lot.

Just a curious thing: on one of the two tubes of the tunnel there are the entrance and the exit of Gran Sasso underground Physic Laboratory http://www.lngs.infn.it/
These two 'tunnels' are used just by the scientists who work in the Laboratory

Now that you say it... I know Scilla, but I've visited at night, so I didn't deduce it from this (beautiful) picture.
A local barista gave me some dolce for free and the macchiato was only 60 cent, so I still remember Scilla very fondly.

But then, why keep the A3 instead of "adding" it to the A1 too? That way, Italy would have a superhighway from Milano all the way to Reggio Calabria (and maybe beyond, after the construction of the Messina Bridge ).

With a length of 1260km, that would probably be the longest motorway in Europe with one number.

But i don't know if that would last long, the Ukrainians are constructing a motorway from the Hungarian border to Luhansk, spanning over 1500km. But it's not sure if this road gets one and the same number.

I don't see any practical use of this. Actually A1 and A3 are not very directly connected and A3 need complete reconstruction. Some part are in works, some are already finished, but a lot is still to be done. And more direct connection between A3 and A1 should be established.
