Tomorrow this exit is going to be closed for good and they are going to open new exit "Portici-Ercolano", 1 km south.

Contract for projecting and building expressway Ragusa-Catania has been awarded today to a consortium made by Silec, Egis, Mec, Tecnis and Maltauro. They will have to publish the definitive project in a year, then complete works in 42 months.

I must admint I didn't know what a BLEVE is.

If you mean this one:
http://www.medbc.com/annals/review/v...ol10n4p241.htm

it was in Sicily but near Palermo, on the other side of the island.

Yes, that was near Palermo. Croatian fire-fighters learned on this example.

Wikipedia doesn't mention it, but it mentions incidents in Scotland, France and Spain.

AFAIK, BLEVE near Palermo was the first recorded one on MW in EU. The other BLEVEs in EU were in a warehouse and a refinery.

Unintentionally created "roundabout" in Trieste. I've already driven here, but I don't remember such a complicated intersection.

Variante di Valico, the landslide moves forward and brushes the existing motorway
The last report made by geologists, sent to Emilia-Romagna region, states that the landslide arrived to a pilon of A1 motorway. And it is accelerating.

According to geologists, the landslide's front is expanding and accelerating, going from 1 cm/month to 1.5 cm/month. Now three different fronts have been labeled "active" and not "quiescent" anymore. One of the pilons of a viaduct in the existing A1 could be affected by the slide, which is also creating cracks and movements on a local road nearby. http://bologna.repubblica.it/cronaca...sole-31847735/

SS106 - Jonica (expressway)

From the Italian subforum, I quote two posts with project status and some diagrams and plans, concerning the SS106 route (Taranto - Reggio Calabria), which is undergoing extensive upgrades to turn it into an expressway.

It comprises a bunch of new bypasses around cities.

Contrary to it "sister" highway, A3, it flows almost entirely on the gentle Ionian coast, so no 200m+ viaducts there.

Dark green: completed and opened to traffic
Light green: under construction
Red: preliminary design

"Normative de Ammodernamento" refers to which kind of road will be there:
-CNR TIPO III - 2x2, 18,30m wide, grade-separation (but substandard exits/access), no shoulder. Speed limit: 90km/h
-DM 51101 TIPO B - 2x2 22m wide, grade-separation, narrow shoulder. Speed limit: 110km/h.

Tracciato Megalotto 5 (Melito Porto Salvo - Reggio Calabria)

Tracciato Megalotto 9 (Mandatoriccio - Crotone Aeroporto) - Ci sono le varie alternative di tracciato, l'alternativa ROSSA č quella selezionata

Ovviamente postate anche voi se avete immagini/info sul tracciato

I went there 20 years ago during a trip with my school, visiting the laboratories. I remember a ramp used to invert direction while remaining on the motorway (almost unique, given the closed system pattern of italian motorways)

I've visited it in 2000. It's quite cool.

Roadwise, they might have troubles because of the lane bottleneck there. But A24 is not well trafficked.
