It's the Variante di Valico, indeed a more or less complete move of the A1 to a parallel alignment.

Green: old highway (2x2, curvy, opened in 1960)
Blue: new highway (3x2, more straight, partially opened in 2006 and completed by 2015, partly built over the old route, it will innclude an 8km tunnel)

It's not a moving: both alignments will be kept open for traffic.

I know. But can you really see through traffic use the old route unless there is a really bad traffic jam? I'd be interested in the signage as we will eventually see it at the split between the current alignment and the Variante.

They did not. Landslide is slowing down and within safety parameters, they say. Who knows what is the real truth.

Maybe they can call one A1 and the other E35.

It would have the same system as on the A14 through Bologna, wouldn't it? Flying on the toll road, and sitting with your thumb up your arse on the parallel road...

No, there are a third and a fourth local routes there serving cities and town in the route:

Last night the first of two decks of TEEM bridge over the railway in Melzo was put in place. Railway was closed to allow the 180-ton, 55-m-long deck to be lowered in place by a 76-m-crane:

Tomorrow I will pass there by train and try to catch on camera some pictures, or possibly a video, of Brebemi-TEEM roadworks. Between Treviglio and Melzo Brebemi runs very close to the railway so it should be possible to get nice images.

Sopraelevata di Genova

A non-accelerated scooter ride through the Sopraelevata di Genova, one of the most stunning urban expressways in Italy IMVHO. Not as much for the road itself but for the scenery

There is also this short video documentary about its construction (Italian only)
Part I

Part II

A12/A10 Genova-Voltri

This is a very nice video of an eastbound ride from exit Genova Est to the A26 interchange.

It includes the narrow section that will be replaced for through traffic by the future Genova Bypass.

Nice video about construction of the Soprelevata di Genova. Nice commercials at the beginning of first movie (Cinzano etc.).

A3 Catanzaro province

What the hell happened here on A3 in Catanzaro province? They are rebuilding the east carriageway since at least 2001, according to historic Google Earth imagery. It appears that they have built an improvised second carriageway here.

2001:

2004:

2007:
