I actually live in Mayrhofen, Tirol. Not Mayrhofen, Salzburgerland. It's a good two hours from here (fastest way through Germany.)

I live closer to Italy...

A lot of people think that SZ on my plates stand for Salzburg, but it actually stands for Schwaz, our District Capital. Salzburg only has S on their plates, or SL for the district around Salzburg (Salzburgerland)

This is just a group of houses with no references on signage. I've never heard of it before.

However in Veneto there is this well-known village, that means the same just in a less polite way.

I wonder how many signs get stolen every year.

Don't know. Probably A3. It has a record too: it was a project, but to some extents, it still is.

I think you're right.

The single most expensive stretch could be A1 Variante di Valico: 4 billion euro for 60 km -> 66 million euro per km

These comparisons are difficult because some projects were done in the past, some were done as different projects for each sector of a highway alignment (or the opposite) etc.

Among recent (post-1990) projects, A3 is undoubtedly the single most expensive project. I don't know what to call it: advanced reconstruction and expansion probably fit it well. Its current budget + adjusted prices for completed sectors are on the € 6,3 billion ballpark.

You can't really compare project cost without taking several factors into account. First there is inflation, which makes a big difference if you're comparing to projects of several decades ago. Then, there's also the funding structure. If it includes financing cost (interest over 30 years or so), then it could easily make € 1 billion difference for larger projects. Today's PPP projects also tend to include maintenance and operation over 20 or 30 years.

That's exactly why I mentioned A24. Actually, 1700B£ are 850M€, but with the inflation and Lira value during the years became 12,6B€
