Sweet. I've only driven on Milan's northern bypass (A4, not (just) A52), it's ok, but there are a few substandard entrance ramps on Milan's ring, like in its northwestern corner (A4×A50), where you literally have to stop. Not very good for the Ring's reputation.

The Trieste bypass is after 6 years of construction finally completed! I think the new expressway towards Slovenia is just called "GVT" (Grande Viabilitą Triestina), at least that's what it says on the sign left of "Rabuiese (SLO)" at 8:50.

i have that feeling, too, but i must say that in reality while yo're driving you don't have that feeling, at least not that much as while you're looking the photos

Is there a lot of Autostradas without a shoulder or they are only common in urban areas?

The picture of a 10-lane jammed bridge looks like LA rush hour

mostly urban areas, but there are some sections at Alpine motorways wothout them (i have also seen them at A1 between Roma and Napoli, but at very short sections). of course, A3 is in that category, too

This is the unsafest exit-set I've ever seen.

exiting traffic has to decelerate within 50 meters to cross the first intersection
The entrance lane to the north is 40 meters long including 15 meters normal width.
decelerating lane from the south is only 1 car long
entrance lane to the south requires a 180 degrees turn. Trucks/buses probably enter the Autostrada with 30 km/h.
Traffic from the urban area to the north need to cross exiting traffic from the autostrada at close quarters.

Whoa, what is FSO Polonez doing here (bottom right hand corner)? You can hardly see them in Poland, so why in Italy?

Haha! It really seems a Polonez. However I think it's a double cab Tata pick-up.
If you look closely, there's a bed (I'm not sure it's called bed, but I mean that there's space for a load) behind the cab.

hehe i have explained that one in my thread Giro d'Italia. i just feel sorry because i was there, and i didn't test it fascinating thing is how they have found place for toll plaza there and you forgot to mention lanes crossing each other (with stop signs included, of course). and frankly, i'm not sure that lorry can make turn there. lane is too narrow and toll plaza is in the way.

Not sure, but I think the pic is outdated because that stretch is under renovation since a coupple of years to add the third lane... so it's very likely the exit is now totally different

The Google Image was from 2007. But the road is under renovation indeed (from 2x2 to 2x3 with em lanes I believe).
