I think one of the things Italy got right is not to mix up the signage/category with toll charges.

I also think a total revamp of Italian numbering/categorization system is due. I'd recognize "superstrada" as an official category (expressways with access control and grade separation). I'd also sort up the mess of provincial and regional codes.

Right, very very busy road (trucks) with more and more roundabouts on the way....But without toll and the shortest connection comparing with A4-A13-A14 option with risk of traffic jams in Padova and certainly in Bologna.......

Some shots of a short 2x2 section of SS 415 eastward shortly after leaving the motorway at Milano, from September 2014:

1.

2.

3.

4.

And the next photo taken during the trip, dunno if still SS 415 or already SS 591 or SP BS 235 ... this is why road numbers always come handy on directional or distance signs

I think he meant SS67. SS16 is indeed 110 km/h.

A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria

Other 4 km stretch opened to traffic in north-carriageway near Lauria Nord, 'macrolotto 3.1' (Basilicata region).

The new stretch includes the 'Serra Rotonda' tunnel, longest of whole A3.

The south-carriageway will open in April.

Horrible tunnel disaster today on SS42 near Breno, Lombardy: a truck lost some heavy steel bars after a accident and they hit passing cars. 2 dead and 10 injured.

Bad accident in the A3 construction site, on the Italia viaduct between Sibari and Lagonegro Nord. A span of the viaduct collapsed and a Romanian worker fell 80 m to his death.

That seems very bad: not only a part of the viaduct collapsed, but it also damaged a pillar while falling down.

The bridge Was being treated for demolition. So it's more a case of something going wrong during demolition than something going wrong after construction

Yup. I'm more surprised they were makin' these 'demolition tests' leaving one carriageway opened.

Anyway this accident has nothing to do with the new stretch of the motorway.

P.S.
Viadotto Italia is the second tallest viaduct in Europe after Milleau despite the fact it was built about 40 years ago.
I didn't know they were going to demolish it

They are not.

Only the terminal parts are going to be replaced, the central spans will remain. And the collapsed span was one of those intended to stay.
