Autovie Venete plans to start works for 3rd lane on A4 Gonars-Palmanova (5km) this July. Estimated costs for this section: 65 million.
Widening of section Fossalta di Portogruaro-Gonars (26km, 440 million) should start by the end of the year.

Later edit: I just realized that the article uses a random pic of A23

I'm planning to do a 10 day Sicily trip around May next year.
I will rent a car for sure, so I will have things to report probably

Until then, I will fly to Malta middle October, via Trapani, and between flights to/from Malta I will have 2 days and thinking to visit Palermo and Trapani.

The really problems are Repubblica's journalist which write without official references.

You may even use the car to go to Malta from Pozzallo's port (province of Ragusa)

I think the article is very exaggerate and full of mistakes, thypical of articles written just to impress people.
No doubt that the road situation in Sicily is disastrous, probably the worst in Western Europe, but 25% of roads closed can't be true. Maybe 25% of roads are in a very bad shape and need urgent reconstruction.
The bridge currently closed is this one (the SS121, not A19). The shorter road between Villarosa and Caltanissetta doesn't require that bridge anyway. No way one needs a 100+ km detour due to the bridge closure, like it's reported.
In addition, A19 was completed in 1975, not 1970 like they wrote. In 1970 there wasn't a single km of motorway in Sicily.

Skip Trapani and go to the Egadi Islands, instead...

Ok, I will take your point into consideration.
Plane will land in Trapani at 12:30 and the one from Trapani to Germany will be the next day at 18:30. So I could visit the islands first day, and still have a few hours in Trapani before departure to Germany next day.

You could consider also visiting the awesome mountain top town of Erice.

I was about to suggest that myself.

Trapani isn't really worth seeing.

The 1,847 meters-long Col Cavalier tunnel opened to traffic today near Belluno.

Works started in January 2010 and costed 63 million. Breaktrhough happened in July 2012, but further works had been delayed due to financial problems.

While around Belluno ...
Is there any news regarding proposed extension of A27 toward Pieve di Cadore?
