Now only if the expressway continued deep into Milano to connect with A7 terminus.

I feel they missed the opportunity to make a tongue-twister when they named that town. It would be better if it was named Pieve di Piave .

Yeah, except for what'd be underneath that. And for the people living in the nearby buildings.

Few years ago there was this crazy proposal to build an underground motorway (15km) across Milan, with many junctons to different parts of the city.

In real life, electronic toll collection was first introduced in Bergen, Norway in 1986, and well into the 21th century many countries still struggle to implement it.

The Viale Renato Serra in Milano is like an urban motorway, look like the sopraelevata of Genova. I use this road it's really usefull to bypass the corso sempione to go from west to North neighborhood. This road is closed from 10pm to 5am in order to let people quiet during the night. Here is a picture of the viale close to the new Portello neighborhood. Very imprressive.

The Renato Serra elevated expressway should get semi-transparent noise barriers higher up and be opened for traffic 24/7.

Driving near Agrigento (Sicily), in the roads which surround the archeological ruins of 'Valle dei Templi'

Nice ruins, but come on, this isn't a tourist thread, these roads are quite irrelevant for the Italian highway system.

I drove only once on that part of A7 and it scared the bejisus out of me. You can't fully appreciate from that video but some of those curves are quite strict.

Wow. Closest to my concept of driving nirvana I've seen on video so far.

About A7:
The southbound carriaggeway, from Serravalle Scrivia to Genoa, opened in 1935, as "Autocamionale" (truck route) and was used in both directions with an 1+1 configuration. The northbound carriaggeway opened in 1960, together with the brand new section between Milan and Serravalle Scrivia. It follows a different allignment respect to the first one, and it's much more straight. The distance Genoa - Milan is 5 km shorther than the way back. The two carriaggeways, that in some places are more than 500 meters apart, cross each other several times, so in many places you have the opposite carriaggeway on your right. The nearby A6 Turin - Savona has a similar configuration.
