The following projects were expected/announced to be completed in 2015:

SS597: Codrongianos (SS131) – Ploaghe 2.4km (September 2013 to October 2015) – project – map
A36: Lomazzo (A9) – Lentate sul Seveso (SS35) 7.5km (October 2012 to Early November 2015) – project – map
SS534: Spezzano Albanese-Terme – Sibari Marina 14km (November 2013 to 24th December 2015) [2nd c/w] – project – map
SS318: Valfabbrica – Pianello 8.5km (2009 to 2015) – project – map
A1var: La Quercia – Aglio 37km (2004 to 2015) – project – map
A1var: Aglio – Barberino 6km (2004 to 2015) [2nd c/w] – project – map
SP103 Milan: Pioltello - Pozzuolo Martesana (A58) 6.8km (2008 to 2015) – project – map
SS77: Foligno (SS3) – Colfiorito 19km (November 2009 to 2015) – project – map
SS77: Bavareto – Pontelatrave 8km (November 2009 to 2015) – project – map
SS96 Barese: Mellitto – Toritto 5.4km (March 2010 to 2015) – ? – map
SS640: Agrigento – Canicatti 8km (March 2009 to 2015) – project – map
Pedemontana Veneta: Thiene (A31) – Breganze 5.7km (November 2011 to Late 2015) – project – map

Is there any update, are all projects still expected to be opened this year?

I found a news article (6th August 2015) about S199. If I got it right, the road is announced to be in 2x2 in service by the end of 2015?!?
If I got this news article (1st August 2015), SP103 was opened on 1st August 2015?!?

A36 is confirmed. Pedemontana Veneta is postponed to the beginning of 2016. For the others I'll have to do a little digging...

Correct.

No, this is just a local 1+1 road.

SP103 Milan was opened when the first stretch of A58 and A35 opened, so in July 2014...

The Casacastalda-Valfabbrica stretch will NOT be undivided 2+2 but a normal 1+1.

SS96 is postponed to March 2016

SS77 suffered a serious drawback when some tunnels were found to have less concrete than the project stated. The opening is postponed until the tunnels are reinforced - no clear date.

SS640 Agrigento-Canicattμ is mostly open, except for 2 km near Agrigento and for a short stretch near Racalmuto.

Why are there so many small companies that manage less than 100 km or even only about 50 km of autostrade? Such small companies are hardly able to invest in significant modernizations or expansions if needed.

I don't think so. You can see 2 carriageways with 2 tunnel tubes on Google Satellite
Nevertheless, is there any info about completion of both SS318 sections?

SS96 Barese: Altamura – Mellitto 10km (December 2013 to March 2016) – ? – map

I'll change it to 2016.

What's your source? Italian forum or news article? Is it possible to find out when the opened sections were opened and when the remaining sections should be opened?
The Agrigento section should be this one. I think the Racalmut section has also a length of 2km.

Is there no info about the estimated A1var opening date?

Look at this post on the Italian thread:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=899

it shows you which sections will be 2+2 and which ones 1+1.
I have no info on opening dates, sorry.

The Mellitto-Toritto stretch is behind schedule, no clear completion date. The Altamura-Mellitto is March 2016.

I'm not sure about the dates, maybe I'll dig a little into the Italian thread.

Unfortunately not, Autostrade per l'Italia was used to publish an updated newsletter, but the last issue is April 2015 and it has been less and less informative with time. I guess the official schedule is still end 2015 but nobody believes that.

Thanks . I checked the post (and newer posts). If I got it right, a 2015 opening is unlikely, but I'm not sure if it's about both sections?! I think I should modify it this way:

SS318: Casacastalda – Valfabbrica 6.8km (< 2007 to 2016) [~4km 1st c/w only] – project – map
SS318: Valfabbrica – Pianello 8.5km (2009 to 2016) – project – map

btw: I thought you're hiking, but it seems you're climbing too.... Climbing monkeys (Google Translate)

Yes, I think that reflects better the current situation.

"Salire la scimmia" means many things... "can't wait for something", "get angry at something", "get high (doing drugs)"... I'll let you guess the meaning.

The time schedule for the 'strap' near the collapsed viaduct 'Himera' (highway A19 Palermo-Catania) is respected.

These concessions are often project-financing ones: the cash flows of the tolls and ancillary revenues are the guarantees of the own financing for the works/expansion.

France has recently introduced some small concession companies as well;

* ADELAC (20 km)
* ALBEA (18 km)
* Alicorne (45 km)
* A'liιnor (150 km)
* Alis (128 km)
* Arcour (101 km)
* ATLANDES (105 km)

Plus a number of concession companies for only single-point toll roads (bridges and tunnels).

The upside of large concession companies is that they are able to cross-finance less profitable toll roads. Half of Japan's toll road network is financed like that.

Open day at the construction site for the so called "Viale della Spina" in Turin, one of the largest urban road project in Italy.

"Viale della Spina" is basically the covering of the old railway, which was put underground in the past years, with a 6-laned boulevard plus 2 2-lane service roads.
Part of this works were completed few years ago (present day corso Mediterraneo, corso Castelfidardo and part of corso Inghilterra), part is in construction now (the rest of corso Inghilterra and corso Principe Oddone - including piazza Statuto underpass), the project for the rest (Corso Venezia up to corso Grosseto and the expressway Turin-Caselle airport) was approved few weeks ago.

This is the site on openstreetmaps:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=15/45.0808/7.6711

Here you can find the project with plans:
http://www.comune.torino.it/trasport...rrovia-2.shtml

I passed by today - as I live right there - and snapped few pictures:
