Italy is paradise for demolishing viaducts.

In this case, they are just demolishing couple deck sections to realign the viaduct approaches. They did the same with three other major A3 viaducts.

Bad news from A3 again.

An 8-km-long, recently built, section between Mileto and Rosarno has been put under investigation (although is still open to traffic) because of serious violations during its construction.
Not only beaurocratic violations in relation to the tender procedure and the contract (with extra costs for the public administration) have been discovered, but it appears that also some viaducts have been built ignoring hydro-geological issues. The construction company made false paperworks and the works actually built differ substantially from the project approved. Also violations related to disposal of construction waste have been discovered. 21 people are under investigation.

It won't surprise me if even the new A3 is a disaster waiting to happen, with some recently-built sections that will require serious reconstruction works in few years from now.
That's a sad proof to the fact that in southern Italy is difficult to built anything good, and without huge wastes of public money, due to all mafia and corruption issues.
I think that companies who build such crap should be forced to pay for all damages and banned from public contracts forever!

The A1var ''variante di valico'' will be also called ''direttissima''.

The old A1 will be called ''panoramica''

This is inspired from the "Direttissima" railway, opened in 1934 between Bologna and Florence to replace a slower railway opened in 1864. A third, high-speed and high-capacity railway line, was opened between the two cities in 2009.

Next Monday the old section of A1 between Bologna and Florence will be closed to traffic for a bycicle race.

A14 near Cesena is closed due to an armed robbery to an armored truck.

Very interesting concept to just have two paralel toll roads instead of widening the existing one.
