Does someone know when A23/E55 was numbered E7 in European numbering? Now E7 runs between France and Spain. Which route E7 was?

Near Udine there is still an old sign with that number.

From 1950 (when the original agreement was signed) to 1983 (when the new system was enacted) it was listed as Roma - Wien - Brno - Warsaw - remaining unchanged the whole time.

In Italy it would have run along the route of the current E45 from Rome to Cesena, E55 from Cesena to Villach.

Starting yesterday, the former A3 from Salerno to Reggio Calabria (plus a small stretch of former RA2 from Salerno to the junction with A30) has been officially renamed A2 - Autostrada del Mediterraneo.

The announcement was made last December but the official change of denomination was signed on 13th June.

Isn't the section Villa San Giovanni - Reggio Calabria numbered A2dir?

So...

1) A2 is the old A3 between Salerno and Villa San Giovanni + the old RA2 between Salerno and A30
2) A2dir is the link (2,3 km) between A3 and A2 (junction with the old RA2)
3) A2dir is also the last part of the new A2 in Calabria (link between A2 and RA4)

Now we have A2 - Fisciano - Villa San Giovanni. Clever rebranding.

Then Fisciano-Salerno section is also "renovated"?
Because this part is a joke that needs immediate upgrade. Last year I almost lost a wheel there because expansion joints on bridges are similar to side curbs.

very nice, but why are there toll booths? is it possible to take proper exit there too, or you only take exit there to P+R? in this second case i don't se the purpose od booths being installed there.

Because the target for this parking lot are commuters, who come in the morning and go back home in the evening using the same junction. Without an intermediate toll booth this would cause an error in the system.

It happened to me once. I did this:

https://www.google.it/maps/dir/45.14...2daed5!1m0!3e0

entering and exiting at the toll barrier North of Turin, and the toll operator accused me of having done a U-turn on the motorway...

If you are commuting and use the highway Park your car and in just 20 minutes by tram you are in the center of florence.
Usually you take 1 hour if there is traffic with the car

Beside this short section, only the Roseto - Sibari lot will be built (contract signed months ago but works not started yet).
Any news?

btw: The project page link seems to be out-dated. Is the project info still available on the site?

The only news is that they authorized it, but we won't see construction for many years. Also exact length is unknown, because one section in Verduno is still in planning stage and there are several options, but the length should be around 9-10 km.

No, there is no money and nobody seems interested in financing it. Everything stopped.
