i'm agree with Gatis about Panorama Plaza - it is really ugly and damages the skyline of Pardaugava.
Astra Lux is much better even to me it seems to tall for that site.
The project of Hanner in that neighbourhood (Pūce birzs) is much in context also more human - http://www.hanner.lt/main.php?lan=EN&id=259&idd=245

I think that the only parts of pārdaugava which can get some tall buildings are Imanta, Zolitūde, Ziepniekkalns and now south of Ķīpsala. Other parts (esspecialy Āgenskalns, Torņakalns, Zasulauks) should remain as they are - with a lot of historic buildings, small streets etc

Pardaugava looks like a forest. Panorama Plaza and Imantas Solaris & Metropolia as well as some soviet 12-floorers is the only things that let you feel that there is city also when you look from some height point. I think these buildings just make the skyline of Pardaugava, not damage, because you can't damage somewhat that isn't existing.

For that matter, Jurmala looks like a forest as well, but the same point you make about tall buildings in Pardaugava can be made about the bigass (completely out of scale) resort hotel proposal for Jurmala that showed up on SkyscraperCity last year!
I do know that Pardaugava and Jurmala are two different places with different visions for their respective futures, but Pardaugava isn't a city in the way that Rigas Centrs is and for it to develop well, more attention needs to be paid towards that character which makes it a unique place within Riga.

And what'' wrong with that??? Forest is the natures skyline ...and I don't think that it will look good if an 100+year old and renovated building stands side by side with a 30floor skyscraper which stands one out of your so called "forest"

I have nothing against forests as a form of nature.. But the City is the City, and it's just boring when half of the city is unvisible. I like many Pardaugava places from street level and I would be against highrise construction, f.e., in Agenskalns district. But the place where Panorama Plaza stands, I think is perfectly aprropriate for such buildings - besides road to airport, large shopping centre. There is forming new commercial & living district, and, of course, it would be nice if there will be not one 30 floor scraper, but many of them and also higher ones!

The picture which ilustrates what I try to say - the only thing that catch my eye is exactly Panorama Plaza buildings:

It looks like silence before storm - several construction places is prepared and waiting for start, Z Towers (visually) make slow progress, also Parex building from outside hasn't changed several months. I hope, the real construction storm will start in the next spring!

Today I was in Skanstes area. So, what's happening there?

1. Rietumu Capital Centre from outside is close to finished almost half a year. Seems they are doing inner part. Right next to RCC, there is works for antoher office building - don't know about this project:

2. Metro Capital Management site. They continues 0 cycle works.

3. Skanstes Virsotnes: visually seems slow progress from september, but they are installed electricity and works inside:
