at all i don´t think that a headquarter is build "at the" end of europe.
the only thing which speaks for it is the turkish market near
There is no "end of Europe" there and I believe this is an unfortunate choice of words since I believe that you wouldn't say the same if this was to be built in Madrid (which is a brilliant city but nevertheless in the "other end" of Europe according to your way of thinking) or Lisbon, Portugal.

...and certainly, there is more in this area than the agreeably large Turkish market which is already potentially served by the Pepsico's HQ probably located in Istanbul (now THAT's the edge of Europe but Istanbul is, after all, the unique and cosmopolitan Istanbul and if this is the eastern gateway of Europe, then it's good enough for me).

FYI Athens is the preferred regional base for South-East Europe for many companiers and as a matter of fact, quite a few have it as their European base too. Surprisingly enough, Coca Cola Europe has Athens as its second European base if I recall correctly, with Coca-Cola HBC SA being one of the largest Coca Cola establishments in the world.

Please leave aside your bias, it doesn't add to this conversation.

I think that this 3d has become the "case of the day" on SSC.

im no finance expert, but:

1.) if ALL buildings are 30m high, pepsi wouldn´t have to build 10 times higher to be "big"

2.) i think every company waits till the ~30m limit is over before planing to build 350m high

3.) they would have to get a company to build this tower from outside greek, because they are not used to build this way. may be expensive

4.) in europe (not just athens), it´s not that easy to sell all m² as fast and easily as in asia/vae

I am sure that if a tower like that was to be build, every single part of it would easily find someone to use it, as for the companies, there actually are some Greek companies with experience on highrises but yes thats probably a bit too high, anyway since there is a height limit for now, i don't believe that this is a true story.

PepsiCo?
Doubt it.

Had you said Coca Cola HBC I would have believed it.

There is no other tower as graceful, stunning, and perfectly scaled as LBT planned in Europe IMO. And I doubt this so called 'PepsiCo Tower' will be either. Seriously, is this going to have a giant 'Pepsi' sign on it? I can't see it happening.

I can and more than one But i won't, case it will be offtopic.

As for PepsiCo Tower, i don't think that it is such a good idea. I think they need to make itmore friendly to enviroment, without giant Pepsi logos, etc.
But, of course, we need tho see the render first.

hm, lemme think .... tour phare, tour generali, federation towers, russia tower (!) ... that's just four ... I bet if I had a closer look at all the supertall proposals in europe, I'd find more examples. (sorry for the offtopic. how comes every thread ends up with london in it ...gawd)

anyway, a 350m tower in athens? I don't think it's very likely to happen.

Big lol at Phare and Generali especially! Federation is very boring to me, but Russia Tower could be quite close.

I don't quite get what Delahaye meant by his comment, did it mean that LBT was easily beatable by other supertalls in Europe?

BTW, I REALLY can't see a 350m tower getting built in Athens. Isn't the city extrmely anti-highrise because of it's history?

It is interesting that nobody paid attention to what the guy said.

Pepsico is not going to build the skyscraper and it will not hire the whole space. It will get a large portion of it. Large can mean half, can mean 10 floors as well.

Furthermore, he clearly mentions that there will be a new building law in September, which will change the height limits. Or else, this structure is not probable.

Now, the only thing left, is that Mikethegreek provides us with some source for this delightful information.

I would no longer call LBT a supertall anymore but considering its location and lack of highrise surrounding the tower LBT will look very tall.
btw i cant see a pic of PepsiCo Tower on the front page?

we've deleted enough of his threads in the past few days

And to open any thread without any sort of source, the least being for this new law, is a bad omen as to the credibility of this announcement

I am afraid I will agree with this statement. As a matter of fact, knowing and monitoring the situation in Greece, I doubt that even a 150m-tall is probablw, unless, like I said, there are fact we don't know.

I would suggest to the mods that IF within 24hours we don't have any worthwhile factual addition to this thread (i.e. renderings, links etc) that this thread be deleted altogether, since the other topics are of much more serious content than mere chit-chat and people do not have to be misled as, I assure you, there have been some thoughts about changing a number of environmental laws with the same reasoning of most of the forumers, that is, for Athens to attain a more "metropolitan" profile. However, we expect to have general elections some time this fall. Which means that there is NO chance that any change may take place before the elections, or within 2007 for this matter.

That is all, to the best of my knowledge...
