Latest upgrade for the network was Acland Street. Includes a new two platform terminus, a new public square, widening of footpaths and removal of cars and on street parking for half the street. As a local, its been a great outcome. Far more people using the space.

A 1·2 km2 area on the edge of Melbourne’s central business district will be fitted with sensors to collect data from motor vehicles and bicycles, as well as transport infrastructure. The area includes 7 km of roads and is bordered by Alexandra Parade to the north, Victoria Street to the south, Hoddle Street to the East and Lygon Street to the west

^ Unfortunately the Mulhouse trams have now lost their original livery and are now in the standard Public Transport Victoria livery for trams (so same as the E class).

Solar power to be allocated to Melbourne trams
19 Jan 2017

AUSTRALIA: The government of Victoria is to call tenders in the first half of 2017 for the construction of solar power farms, with part of the output to be bought to power the Melbourne tram network.

Work to build solar farms with a generating capacity of 75 MW is due to be completed by the end of 2018. The Victoria government will surrender renewable energy certificates matching the amount of electricity used by Yarra Trams, around 35 MW

Tram changes to aid Melbourne Metro construction
17 Apr 2017

AUSTRALIA: Melbourne operator Yarra Trams is to reconfigure three routes with effect from May 1, offering new cross-city connections and facilitating the construction of the Metro Rail tunnels.

The current Route 55 between West Coburg and Domain Interchange is being extended southeast to Toorak, taking over the southern part of Route 8, and will become Route 58. Eliminating the terminating services is intended to simplify operations at Domain, where an underground station is to be built alongside the existing tram interchange. New tram tracks are currently being built in Toorak Road, which will allow Route 58 to be diverted around the station construction site in Domain Road later this year. As part of this work, a three-platform ‘easy access’ stop is to be built in St Kilda Road offering an alternative tram interchange to relieve that at Domain
