Thanks for the update Officer D...I'm excited about this development. Ian Simpson are quality architects and the developer seems to be really switched on about their target market...looks good.

It's a bit crazy, this, isn't it? These retained façades are going to look a bit like a film set...

^I that cross section just look at all the years of skill and knowledge that went into keeping that structure standing using inferior materials! (the steel beams are temporary)

There is a thread in the Construction forum but it isn't one that gets frequently updated.

This probably means nothing to most people here, but it's something I'm quite looking forward to.
![]() The development is called "Forest Hill Central" and will feature 70 apartments with roof terraces and balconies, plus retail/commercial at ground level along with some trees - http://www.berkeleyhomes.co.uk/index.cfm?articleid=1618 Basically it's the flat, derelict patch of wasteland opposite Forest Hill train station (south-eastern side), which has been empty and crumbling for years. Given the prominent location I'm amazed the site hasn't been developed sooner. It will go some way to improving what is currently a grotty and completely lifeless area. ![]()

Lewisham gateway (a major redevelopment of lewisham town centre) got approved on friday. Click on the brockley central link for more details and an interview about the scheme,as well as a link through to one of the councillors' blogs, to read about the verdict.
