Not even to build a shell of a station just in case? RUBBISH!

The changes to the northern extension disgusts me. They should at the very least build some sort of hallway connector between Rome & Pt Cardinet. AT THE VERY LEAST.

Looking through the Symbioz forums, it appears that the MP 89CC #04 will transfer to tonight!

By week's end, it appears that only MP 59 #s 6016, 6021, & 6036 will be the last 3 on the line. If the transfer continues as planned, there will be no more MP 59 on by the end of the year.

we have a problem with paris metro stations:
Too dark!

In london they solved it by giving more white colour, lights , they harmonized the design of the stations to have enough lights etc...

In Paris too much darkness.

I saw several years ago a project by RATP to give more security feeling for each stations to users .

Where are the projetc now?

This the weakness of traditionnnal stations in paris. i 'm not talking about L14 which is a marvel i like to use and i don't see equivalent in Europe for such line. Jubilee line is the most closer but L14 is by far the best line seen in europe.

Only asiatic metros are so modern

I agree. Many of the stations have lighting by which makes the stations way too dark. Château d'Eau on M4 is one of them.

Château d'Eau is the darkest station on the line 4, all the other stations of the line are much brighter.
The "Ouï-dire" lighting style (used for the mid 1980's to the end of 1980's) is not very efficent with this type of station. It works better with single-vault station.
Chateau d'Eau has been renovated at this time and for the moment there is no need of an other renovation.
Also don't forget that the photo may make the station look darker than the reality.

If we take the example of a station renovated during the 2000's, I don't think that we could say that it is dark.

Nor for this style of the 1970's mid 1980's.

Both lightening styles cover the majority of the network.

The station of the line 14 are quite dark compared with most of the network, the same can be said for the Jubilee line extension compared with the rest of London Underground.
It feel safe but it is not very bright.
When I compare with other european metro systems, Paris metro is not dark, quite the oposite.

Agree. I think stations in Paris metro are not dark. The ones that are very dark and ugly are the RER stations. Not the new ones (RER E) but the older ones.

As for line 14, their station sure look modern, but I don't find them particularly beautifull. I prefer the look of the Jubilee line extension stations.

I think the RER C stations in the city center are the absolute worst. So cheeply designed.

As for the Metro, I'm not saying all stations are too dark. Actually, many of them look wonderful and bright. Just a few stations here and there have lighting that makes them look dim and dark.

M14 is wonderful in many aspects, and yet...I never got to use the line during my 2009 visit. Most of my Metro journey was along M4 via the MP 59.

Well the RER A station are not so bad, they need a big renovation and it is planned but the RER C station are absolutly the worst I agree. Infortunalty few thing can be done about it.
Between those wich are dark and those with a low platform high and a high curve (Saint-Michel-Notre Dame).
There is no much more choise to rebuilt S-M-N-D but it would cost billion.

After lines 1 and 12, it is the 13 that gets new lines indicators.
As for the lines 1 and 12, only the lines with transfert with the line 13 are indicated, this includes the suburban trains and the main railway stations.

RER A station need a renovation, as you say. Chatelet-les-Halles is a station that appears to be frozen in time in the 1970's.
Also, all the stations in general could benefict from a renovation, with brighter colours and brighter ceilings - RER station ceilings are generally black, which makes the stations quite dark.

Châtelet les Halles renovation works began several month ago.
A new big entrance will be added, the configuration of the station will de modified, especially the area where the corridor to the line 1, 7 and 11 and the corridor of the line 14 lead to the fare gates of the RER station.
In the future to get from the Place Carre entrance to the metro lines 1, 7, 11 and 14 there will be no more need to go through the RER station and and therefore to pass twice through the turnstiles.

Before

After

If you want more information about the renovation of Chatelet les Halles.
PARIS | RER & Suburban Rail
I will post pictures when heavy work will be visible.

Except for older/central stations, Montreal's are also dark ... painting the ceilings helps although this practice was done away with the (newer) station designs since the '70s ... darkness underground bothers me.

That's good news. I know they were doing a major reconstruction at Les Halles (on the surface) but I didn't know it also included the station.
The "salles d'echange" of the RER station sure does need a renovation.
What about the RER platforms (low level)? Will that area also be renovated?

Line 14 stations are awesome. Reminds me Moscow metro to a certain extent.

I bought this book over 9 years ago, I don't know anymore any place where to buy it.
The RATP shop at Chatelet les Halles has closed several years ago.

Today, the 302nd station of Paris metro opened.
