La Motte-Picquet – Grenelle
Due to the installation of a switch at Montparnasse-Bienvenue, the traffic of the line 6 is interrupted between La Motte-Picquet – Grenelle and Raspail from 1 to 4 May 2014.
This switch is installed for reversing trains during the closure of the elevated section between Pasteur and Passy this summer.

This lead to an unusual scene at La Motte-Picquet – Grenelle, two trains arriving from the same direction.
Why? Because the set of to reverse is located on the west of the station.

The train on the left will unload passengers while the train on the right will take passengers.

Note that the train on the right will leave the station first, allowing the train on the left to reverse and to serve the right side platform.

This complicated maneuver requires two drivers on each side of the train

Interesting arrangement. Is the line signalled for two way running?

What is it supposed to look like after the renovation? It was one of the most beautiful ones.

If I am not wrong, all the network is signalled for two way running.
Anyway, it is just for few hundred meters to reverse the train at the railway switch.

A video

The RATP is reporting that all traffic on Line 4, from north of Reaumur-Sebastopol has been stopped due to the discovery of a suspicious package at Chateau Rouge. Normal operation is predicted to resume at 4:00pm local time.

Updates on the Twitter page. https://twitter.com/Ligne4_RATP

UPDATE: Services are slowly returning to normal as of 4:00PM local time (10:00AM ET)

I agree, many parts of the Metro are dirty. Could be worse though.

Efforts are being planned to clean up many stations and waterproof them too.

It's not the cleanest system in the world, but it's still very efficient.

When they finish renovating all the 300 stations, so much time will have passed since starting that those renovated at the beginning will already be needing renovation, ensuing that this perpetual circle never stops. That, unless they can go from renovating 2-3 stations at a time to many more. Anyway, I was very happy with the renovation of the Strasbourg-Saint-Denis station, which was the worst culprit in terms of piss and decay. (Or am I thinking of Reaumur-Sebastopol?)

It has issues, but it is vast and with the RER, very efficient and very interesting.

I didn't talked about the efficiency of the system , but about the cleaning of the system ... In many parts is horrible , i don't know im my opinion is an absurd situation (the people pay a lot for that metro) ... Auber elevators for example (full of dirt and piss) , or Chatelet Les Halles a total mess ... !

Chatelet Les Halles is currently undergoing renovation. Auber is going to get the cleanup it needs. Many Metro stations are slated for cleaning and waterproofing.
