Paris metro Line 4 train order
07 Dec 2016

FRANCE: Paris public transport operator RATP is to exercise an option for a further 20 six-car MP14 metro trainsets from Alstom, the supplier announced on December 7. The order is to be placed in January and forms part of a framework contract awarded by RATP on behalf of Île-de-France transport authority STIF and Société du Grand Paris in early 2015, covering up to 217 MP14 trains over 15 years.

The €163m option is being funded half by STIF and half by RATP. The trainsets are to be used on Line 4 of the Paris metro, which is being upgraded to driverless operation

Yes it is, the line 4 will become driverless.
I don't know if any other lines will be automated, maybe line 11. Nothing is officially planned for the moment.

The MP 14s for the 14 will be eight cars long. The existing stations are all designed to handle eight car trains, so no additional expansion work is required.

The MP 89CC of the 4 is currently slated to be rehabbed, shortened to five cars, and be placed onto the 6, with some going to the 11. This isn't 100% confirmed as of the last time I read through the plans (back in June/July, 2016), but it is the likely scenario being discussed. The other possibility is retiring them early, which I sure hope doesn't happen. They are my favorite Paris subway trains and I'd really hate to see the RATP retire them early.

I'd have to say that the MF 01 and MF 77 are best.

I like those trains as well.

My fictional transit system uses subway trains that are based off all three.
