Indeed Juanico, thanks for this quick and clear summary. However, I must confess that you're very optimistic for the opening dates. Apparently, the first line to open is planned to be the South-East line, and this only after 2020. According to my latest news, Arc-Express has been renamed LSE standing for "Liaison Souterraine Express" (Express Underground Link).
A noticeable diffference though is that the Métrophérique (RATP project supported by local councils) is closer to the center of Paris than Arc Express/LSE lines are. I guess probably it costs less to build it further away than to build it more in the core of the urban area. It seems that everything is made by the region to promote the cheapest/crappiest solutions : Metro lines extensions are replaced by tramway lines, everything is planned to be actually built on several decades, many projects are even pushed back to after 2030 if they are not cancelled. |

Metropolitan told you about the Grande Ceinture Ouest and the Tangentielle Nord. The thrird loop line projected is the former Tangentielle Sud, now called Tram-Train Evry/Massy, that will link those two cities. You can find a map of this project here. For more informations about the GCO, you can have a look here and here. For more informations about the Tangentielle Nord, you can have a look here and here. And for informations about the Val-de-Marne part of the proposed loop-metro, you have the website of the Conseil Général : http://www.cg94.fr/node/800 |

Olympiade subway station
Beautiful station, clean (obvious it is new), luminous.
But I don't like the new ticket gates, the older of the line 14 are more futurist. 1. ![]() 2. ![]() 3. ![]() 4. ![]() 5. ![]() 6. ![]() 7. ![]() 8. ![]() I learn some interesting fact, the real traffic of the line 14 is 100,000,000 journey and not 62,000,000. 10.

Better pictures by Metropole site.
![]() ![]() ![]() According the website the ugly toll gates are only here for few month, after those will be remplaced by Météor type gate ![]() ![]() Actually the line 14 has 389,000 passengers per workday, with this new station the workday traffic is estimated at 410,000. Note that the estimation are always underestimating.

Nice station! I hope it doesn't look dirty in a few years time. How was it constructed? Cut and cover or tunnelling shield?

Tunnelling shield.
This station was built in 1998, but it was an for the maintenance of the trains. In 2001, the tunnel was extended to Maison Blanche for a new maintenance station, but the tunnel broke down under a school. Due at this accident the construction was delayed. This station should open in 2004. ![]() With 100,000,000 journeys per year, I can say that the line 14 is the busiest driverless line in Europe, and one of busiest in world. ![]() The line 14 is connected at : - 10 subway lines - 5 RER lines - 2 big railway stations.

Nice station. I've never been to Paris (or France) before, but it looks like a nice city to visit. A few questions.
Are there any plans to extend line 14 further? Is there space for additional carriages or no room at all at the stations?

Yes actually the trains of the line 14 have 6 cars but it can be extended at 8 cars. The only problem is Saint Lazare station, that would be extended.
The line 14 would take one branch of the line 13 at the north and one branch of the line 7 at the south.

I see. I've seen a few videos on youtube that showed the stations had some extra space.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqs00PlqtN0 This one shows the extra space kind of well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-tjzYqjBkI If I'm right, only line 1 and 14 operate on the rubber tired system that uses the MP models? So the branches to be taken over would need to be converted? Thanks for answering the questions.

No the lines 4, 6 and 11 use also rubber tired system.
