Yesterday in the news it was said that Sarko initiated the planning of a 140km long ring-metro for Paris...how much of it is true?

Did he? That's great news!

I know about the plan (metropherique), but I didn't know Sarko gave it green light. Btw, as far as I know the metro line is around 40 km, the rest up to 140 km consists of other public transport projects.

This is the €35Bn scheme the President gave green light to on April 29th:

including:
- 130+ km of metro
- 100+ km of light rail
- completion of RER E
- completion of the TGV interconnexion
- completion of A104 beltway
- CDG EXPRESS

Wait and see...

So let me get this straight, does this 35 bln. EUR plan include all that's here, plus the CDG Express project?

Is anybody willing to open a thread about the plan?

the map you included in your message shows the former regional plan. Some (if not most) of these projects are already under construction and are due to open to service in the next years.

The "ARC EXPRESS" should be replaced by the 130km additional metro network revealed on the maps I have posted on the previous page.

So CDG and Orly will be connected by metro?

I hope not, the system is not prepared for that. Under the forseable pressure Meteor (line 14) will implode.

So is the new TGV interconnection meant to allow trains running on LGV Atlantique to pass around Paris and switch to other LGVs and vice versa?

What else would it be for?

It would do the same for the LGV Atlantique that the LGV Interconnexion Est did for LGV Sud-Est and LGV Nord.

I guess there'd be services from the LGV Nord and LGV Est to LGV Atlantique (and maybe a few from LGV Sud-Est) using the connection.

Anyone who is from or lives in the state of Indiana is called a "Hoosier." It is the nickname for an Indiana resident.

OK, I just hadn't heard about this LGV until I read it on this thread.

As 2011 the line 1 should be driverless with a new rolling stock (MP05).
The current stock (MP89) of the line 1 will move in the line 4.

From 16 to 19 february in the night, they tested the MP89 in the line 4.
