Changes to GEB tolling rules means savings for customers

After monitoring customer experiences and looking at various issues since tolling began on the Golden Ears Bridge five months ago, TransLink has responded by updating its tolling rules.

Customers will no longer have to supply pre-authorized payment information in order to register for a Golden Ears Bridge account. By changing this one rule, Registered Video Accounts will now be able to be post-paid, similar to the payment options available to the Registered Transponder Accounts and unregistered accounts.

“Making these changes will improve customer service, improve operating efficiencies and clarify the business rules and operating policies around tolling”, said TransLink CEO Ian Jarvis.

“We want to make sure that everyone understands that they have the opportunity to cross the Golden Ears Bridge at a discounted toll rate, whether they make just a few or many trips across the bridge”, said Rosa Rountree, manager of the QuickPass Customer Service Centre. “Even if you think you will only use the bridge a few times a year, if you register for a Registered Video Account, you will receive a 15% discount over unregistered (pay-as –you-go) customers”.

Above update includes a schematic of the 152nd Street Interchange with the addition of the c/d lanes, unlike the dated plans on MoT's website. It also includes plans of the 156th Street HOV Interchange (not unexpected) and 160th Street interchange.
That 160th street diagram bothers me.
According to it, the only lane additions east of that will be an HOV lane...
Plus, the new 160th street interchange doesn't provide very adequate access to 104th EAST of the complex... due to the nature of 104 as a direct link to the future Golden Ears connector, I could see it as a shortcut for many Surrey residents to the Golden Ears bridge in the future. A better 160th Street interchange would be similar to the new Fraser Highway/EXIT 83 in Abbotsford.
What I meant is that the 160th street interchange should look more like this somewhat-incomplete concept [link].

Hwy. 99 looking west from the Hwy. 10 overpass. Hwy. 10 towards Ladner also parallels this freeway for quite some distance, as seen at left. The soon-to-be-built South Fraser Perimeter Road and the existing Hwy. 91 from near here to the A.F. Bridge over the Fraser River will make a triangle around contentious Burns Bog (at right).

Hey guys I'm lost on the SFPR.
I know BC has the lowest standards in the country for on/off ramp distances but even when I go to Gateway site I still can't figure it out.
I know there will be some off ramps on one side and not the other but for me the main issue is stoplights.
Will someone be able to take it from Twassen to Hwy ! without hitting a stop light.

unfortunately, its not going to be a freeway and hence there will be some intersections with traffic lights on this road.

What is it with BC? They build roads but not freeways. They sink billions into a project but will still have lights on it which can still bring the whole system to a full stop. Look at 91A which has that stupid light along what is the rest of the way freeway. It brings all northbound traffic to a complete halt coming in from 99. I had the true misfortune of having to take it one morning and it took 6 light to get thru. Is there a map of the route just showing where lights and interchanges are?
It looks like they are adding a northbound line to make hwy 99 from King George to 91 3 lanes {which in BC is a VERY big deal as BC only has 17km of 6 lane highway and that's as big and wide as it gets} but not southbound????
As you see on the above pic it should have been done 20 years ago and that section above is where the LIGHTEST traffic level on the entire road north of 152nd.

I also would like to see the highway 10 become a freeway which would connect highway 1 to highway 91 and 99. It'd make it so much faster and easier for the people going east from Twsn. Surrey and even Richmond and vice versa.. That said, we are lucky to have the Liberals in the government, the NDP would have done nothing and might even cancelled most of the big highways improvement projects such as the Gateway.

I think we talked about this before, but the Provincial Government was going to have a full interchange at 72nd Street on the 91 (that's Hwy 91 by the way, not 91A). But there were disputes of the type of interchange between the MoT and Delta, and so a traffic light was then used instead.

With regards to SoF Perimetre Road, there have been cutbacks to the project and we are still waiting for new schematics.

Who cares, better install a poorly-designed interchange there without any upgrade options than no interchange at all... if that person who said it takes 6 lights to get through is right, then eh... build the interchange

They're apparently planning another new freeway between the 91/99 and 1 on a route close enough to the 10's route.

Weirdly enough, we can't get 6+ lane highways in the lwoer mainland and whole swaths of the Coquihalla Highway up north (including the Great Bear Snowshed) are 6 lanes wide. And THAT is a highway that is actually MORE than 20 YEARS old... I actually feel very grateful that they're doing SOME upgrades to the highways HERE.

I pass by that intersection every morning and the traffic there is just crazy. An interchange would definitely help!

I don't :p but if you're right they could sure use it.
I live in the Guildford area near the Port Mann Bridge and all and when traffic clogs up the local streets... eh....

Yes, the people who are particularily against the SFPR because it goes right thru Burn's Bog and ALR offered the parrell route to HWY#10 as a viable alternative but the province wouldn't go fo it. Why I'm not sure as it would be a hell of a lot more direct from HWY#1 to the Port and Twass.
I live down here and there is lots of room for a route from near the 99 & 91 interchange right to near Cloverdale to the freeway for a 6 lane expressway. The problem is that the area is developing at a dizzying rate and unless the province buys properties straight away and sets aside the land for a future freeway then it will be yet another opportunity lost. That small strip of land running roughly parell to the rail line is the only area left that hasn't been developed. If they don't start planning for it then there will be no alternatives. I mean that quite sincerly, there will be no way of getting to tthe freeway from King George without destroying dozens of houses and that won't happen.
