it does seem a little strange that it is an isolated outcrop of Bikol in an otherwise Bisakol area of Sorsogon. By the way, your username sounds just like the Daraga word for "yes"....which is totally different from the Naga-Legazpi "iyo". Are you from Daraga? Just curious...

Ironically, Filipino nationalism was actually a bi-product of Spanish colonialism....before the 19th century Filipinos did not really think of themselves as one ''nation''. The unintended consequence of colonial rule was to unite the Tagalogs, Visayans, Bikolanos, Ilokanos etc..against colonialism, despite their many differences.

I also think neither the subethnics of chinese had an idea of a nation either.. I forgot to say that Ilocanos and Tagalogs will never be numerous and will be a minority in a Kapampangan Dominated Luzon if the spanish never conquered Luzon, the people who speak Kapampangan accented Tagalog and Ilocano will stay Kapampangan,Visayans will have their own kingdom,Actually if we base on Geography Kapampangan has more edge to other languages because of Farm Land and Rivers and will influence neighboring minority languages,Kapampangans can easily multiply because they live on Tarlac River,Pampanga River,Angat River,Bucao River,Kaliwa River,Kanan River and Marikina River. I was thinking on how Visayan and Bikol language split, did visayan originate in Bicol area? Last edited by mimeomimeo; September 3rd, 2009 at 03:37 AM. |

glad to find this forum! kaya lang garo haloy nang mayong nagpost.
the developments in the Bikol literary scene are encouraging. KABULIG , the Bikol literary group formed in 1993, has been revived and counts among its members many young Bikolanos (Jason Chancoco, Estelito Jacob, Kristian Cordero, among others) who continue to produce literary ouput in both Bikol (inlcuding Rinconada) and Filipino (even English). They have received national awards and have been published. Nakakaengganyong marhay. By the way, the language is Bikol, not Bikolano. "Bikol" is also the appropriate term (adjective) for cuisine (not Bicolano cuisine), culture, literature, customs, religion. Bikolano is the term for the native (person) of Bikol (the region)- a Hispanized form, actually. The term more suanoy is BIKOLNON. "Bicol" or "Bicolano" with a "c" are Spanish influences. 'Bikolano" or "Bikol" speaks of the attempt to go back to our roots, to be more ourselves. In the ancient writing system there was no "c", only "k". Contemporary writing in Bikol uses "k" instead of "c". |

sa mga interesado magsurat, ang aram ko igwa ang Kabulig (Bikol Writers' Group) ning annual writing workshop.
ang kagayunan kang mga bikolanong parasurat (bentahe na siguro ini dahil exposed kita sa manlaen-laen na taramon, asin dai kita nasasakitan na marhay makanood ning ibang taramon), kayang-kaya man magsurat bako sana sa bikol kundi man sa tagalog asin ingles. a writer (sorry, forgot his name) from albay recently got a literary award in thailand. interestingly, his background is engineering. no formal training in writing ![]() at the ateneo de manila's kagawaran ng filipino, several faculty members, published writers (some are palanca awardees) are bikolanos - alvin yapan, marc lopez, jayson jacobo. |

i found a religious book in bikol printed in early 1900s by Imprenta Mariana (http://bcl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Librer...prenta_Mariana). matapô na an papel.
regarding our literary folio. we are done with the gathering of poems and lay-outing. the cheapest way to produce the issue is through risograph (500 copies), or powder copy/xerography (50 copies hehe).
