Yeah, the Kingdom of Prussia existed. However, here you'd prefer to be understood by rail fans rather than historians, wouldn't you?

Funding earmarked for Port of Gdansk rail upgrade
15 Apr, 2014

Polish infrastructure manager PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe has signed a contract worth around 1.8 million zł to carry out a feasibility study into proposed improvements to rail infrastructure surrounding the Port of Gdansk.

The study, which will consider the most effective options for modernisation of the stations which serve the sea port, follows an earlier announcement of plans to upgrade line 226 which connects the port with Gdansk city centre.

Line 226 is to benefit from a modern traffic control system which will allow freight trains to reach speeds of 100 km/h and increase the number of daily services from 60 to 360.

The projects are part financed by the European Union Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2007-2013 funding agreement.

The feasibility study will be completed in September 2015

Even between Warsaw and Poznań the direct rail link has been constructed as late as 1922, after Poland regained its independence.

Even after WW2 you were able to guess the former border between Eastern Poland (former Russian territory) and its Western part (Germany) looking at the density of the rail network there. Extremely well developed local lines in former Germany versus just a two or three main lines inherited from Russia in the entire East (a part with the different gauge btw.).
Before the partitions there was no Germany and Wrocław itself was Polish speaking until late 18th century.

Changed it, thanks for correcting. To be true, I didn't know about its existence.

Who's building these cars? Vmax 200?

Great to see some investment in the IC-cars as well, not just Pendolinos.

Yes. But these cars + Pendolino are just few of many investments. There will be 20 Flirt 3 EMUs, 20 Pesa DART EMUs (new intercity Pesa EMUs, they haven't even constructed prototype yet), 200 modernised cars, 10 double deck EMUs (pending tender), 40 brand new cars (including that showed above) + 20 Pendolinos.
There are also plans for modernisation of next 200 cars, 20 EMUs and new locos (but we don't know how many yet).
After that, 70% of PKP Intercity rolling stock will be new or modernised.
Here you've got map (not including plans for next 200 cars and so on):

Newly-built compartment cars! Fantastic PKP! Way better than the Talent, Flirt and Desiro style crap now widespread across the continent (comfort-wise)!
