PKP is just bunch of idiots. That's all. PKP decided to buy pendolinos even tho PKP knew that they won't get homologation. Which means they already paid 75% of 400mln euros and have 20 useless trains...

They can not run more than 160 km/h? What will happen with these trains in the end?

What is the problem? Why can't they be certified?

Because in Poland actually we don't have ETCS level 2 which is necessary to homologate to 250. Contract between Alstom and PKP Intercity that say and Intercity don't agree to homolagte to 160 with use SHP system (that is proposition from Alstom) and later when ETCS2 will be in use than Alstom homolate Pendolino to 250. I think they can change some notation in contract so thaht Alstom can homologate Pendo to 250 with use ETCS level 1.

SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH, IS BAD ; )

Hi, Falks
In last days Ukrainian infrastructure minister and Ukrainian Railways (UZ) Director mentioned publicly about their idea to launch Kyiv-Przemyśl passanger services using Huyndai EMUs. Any official/inofficial infos from Polish side?

No such service will be available. Trains will reach Kraków na Wrocław only from Warsaw.

So pendolinos will only be used between Kraków and Wrocław/Warsaw?

I will be in Poland April 2015 so perhaps the pendolinos won't be in service by then?

Nobody knows unfortunately. The best question at the moment is 'will they ever drive'?

I see that it takes the same turn like in the CZ 10 years ago. The ČD bought Pendolinos, with no tracks to run them and the certification and adjustments were problematic. Pendolinos with top speed 230 km/h can't run faster than 160 km/h on the Czech rails. At least perhaps PKP did not pay so much for them and Poland is actually busy with building new tracks for higher speeds than just 160 km/h.

The biggest problem of Pendolinos for the ČD is that they the ČD is incurring loss with them even if they are running at comparably high occupancy rates. This comes due to relatively short relation (mostly Praha - Ostrava).

Looking at the map and taking into consideration that the PKP will adjust its tracks for Pendolinos and the Pendolinos should not be so different. I am thinking, wouldn't it be feasible to run Pendolinos (e.g. jointly) in Praha - Ostrava - Katowice - Warszawa relation? The track between Ostrava and Katowice would need major upgrade on the Polish side I think and I don't know about the compatibility of the systems (currents) of the units. But this could be a under 6 hour relation with the higher speed available in Poland (Praha - Ostrava is 3 hours, Katowice - Warszawa is planned at 2 hours 20 minutes).

So my question is, could the PKP Pendolinos run on the Praha - Ostrava track? Could the ČD Pendolinos run on the Ostrava - Warszawa track?

Interesting... I did not know that Leo Express is trying to get on the Polish tracks as well. He talks about competing with the PKP Pendolinos... http://byznys.ihned.cz/c1-60155630-l...povoleni-uradu
