Nothing wrong with that, factories can look nice and in this case it looks nicer than before, which is rare when it comes to such renovations.

Some smaller train station in Poland combine other functions like for example library... and in case of Sroda Wielkopolska a cultural building... so perhaps that is why so colorful...

I guess they spend for roads even more: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...41854&page=697

All those things are being partly financed from EU funding and partly from own money. But I don't understand your way of thinking actually... Is Poland really considered outside as such a poor country?

I think it s a good thing but just wondering if its sustainable financially?

We still have a lot to do, much more than most other big countries in Europe.

Building and modernising infrastructure is financed from credits in quite low part here and those credits are mainly from EU institutions with low percentage. From both past EU-funding perspective (2007-2013) and the current one (2014-2020) Poland is going to get a lot of grants: during the current perspective about 4 bln euro will be get only for railways. Those grants are huge majority of money spending in transportation, domestic funds are much less.

I don’t think it would be debt, I understand the Government can’t borrow more than 55% of GDP (constitution rule) so its EU grants and their own money.

Quite remarkable how much new infrastructure is under construction in Poland at the moment.

Are there planned any high-rises next to the station and other development? Seems like a good place with space enough for some nice development.

Railway investments are often with around 80% of fundings coming from EU and only a small portion coming from the polish railway company, which funds it from debt mostly. This state-owned company also receives some money from fuel tax, so the polish government takes very little expenses here. The polish government hates railways, they already made it clear and only invest because the European Union insists.

The government is building a lot of roads and is issuing endless amounts of debt to build them. To solve the problem, they decided to steal the private pension funds, which I calculated will be enough to cover 2 years of their rackless spending. They also increase taxes every month already, increased VAT, decreased tax bonus for people with 1 child, decreased tax bonus for artists/programmers, increased trash tax, increase heating prices 15% every year, never update the income tax table according to inflation, etc, etc, etc. Anyway, when the money from pension funds ends, they will probably steal us again.

When people from "Western Europe" complain about how much EU money goes to Poland, it is worth reminding them that a lot of their current wealth was built on generous subsidies such as the Marshall Plan which allowed these countries to build competitive industry straight after WW2. Whatever was left in Poland in those years was actually used to rebuild the USSR more than anything here.

From a historical perspective, it's not more than fair that Poland receives a lion's share of EU subsidies as the European Project was set up to prevent the tragedy which was WW2 from happening again. This is the best way to clean up the last inequalities left over from that conflict.

I guess you would be robbed as much in Argentina. No one forces you to stay here, if it's really such a savage country
