Polish Railways

These dirt is made by lubricant betweem electric network and electricity receivers on train's roof

Is Poland going to create a high-speed railway system anytime soon? All of these trains are still in the communist era :/

Quite interesting thing is the last in Europe regular passenger line powered by steam engine locos. You can simply buy a normal ticket and take a ride on retro train. Pretty much unusual these days.

i think it's quite fair to say that out first high speed line will be between Warsaw and Katowice (Grodzisk Mazowiecki-Zawiercie). It should be ready for 200 km/h in 2012/2013 period ! Some works are going on already as well

Reconstruction.
This line (CMK) was built in the 1970s with minimal curve radius of 4000m. So it's basically capable of 250 km/h operation. Just needs a good in-cab signalling system and total grade separation (for now, there are still some level crossings, viaducts need to be built).

The current plan is to put ERTMS on it and start 200 km/h operation.
