If you read the news article, it says that the project is 20% completed. This is definitely a redesign. Also if you download the brochure, it has the correct location. Too bad...I liked the original design much better.

Let's get a better picture of the tower..

I have to say I'm pleased by this new design even though I really liked the previous one, but if shortening towers is a requirement to get them built, then so be it. Dubai is waking up again and it will be interesting to see which project comes back next!

Nice design, even though the old design was good too, and heigher. But at least there is something going on now.

I don't know if this is better. It somewhat reminds me of the Dongguang TBA Tower. But at least Ocean Heights is there already, which also has a curved structure.

Ooo pretty . Guess it's supposedly a little shorter? But while I liked the old design, this one's quite nice too. It beats mostly static-shaped floorplates all the way up and looks quite modern.

Very disappointing! The old design looked wonderful, this one looks mediocre at best. The proportions don't match the design, and I have the suspicion that based on the render, the cladding will look cheap and tacky. I was hoping this building was going to join Infinity Tower as a refreshing contradiction to the standard blocky towers in the vicinity, but apparently not. This isn't nearly unique or tall enough compared to the original proposal.
On the bright side, this likely means we will see this rise soon. Its been seen many times- the original wonderful, radical design is replaced with a scaled back, conservative design, which is promptly built. I suppose it is better than nothing, but if given the choice, I would rather wait and hope for better things.

Why? I agree it's not a masterpiece, but it wasn't one anyway. The latest design is just going to waste a few million less during construction (and a whole lot more ever after), with this lopsided "sabre" removed (which didn't have any meaning whatsoever)

Its perhaps more efficient, but everything that made this building aesthetically better than most of its surroundings has been removed, imo. Perhaps it was never a masterpiece, but if built as originally planned, I think it would definitely be better than anything else in TB. The building is now lacking the original curves that made it unique, and its width no longer matches its height, which is worse than the design change. They should at least thinned the design if they were going to shorten it.

Thinner isn't necessary imo. There are enough thin towers there.

Guys, the "thickness" of this tower, isn't different from the "thinnes" of the other ones. The plot sizes are more or less the same.

If it stays in the supertall category I don't care how short it gets. So lucky it got a new design change

Lopsidedness has nothing to do with aesthetics. To a normal person, it looks like it was skewed because of carelessness of those who made it. And it's not "perhaps", it's definitely much more efficient now. A few months ago, PrincessTower was telling how crazily much it really costs, to do a full windows wash for a crooked hut.
Besides, from an architect's POV, it's not necessary to design a tower really thinner, to make it look much more elegant. There are a few tricks that can add all the grace, while taking not even a square inch out of it!
So why exactly it was "better than anything else in TB"?

Just curious: Do you work for Adnan Safarini?

It's a bit unethical to ask on public... To be straightforward, no. Why would I? If he can be honest with himself to the same extent - then he's welcome to work for me!

I think he's dead, his sons run the studio (the Architects of the Princess Tower, Elite Residence, Al Yaqoub and Grand Millenium Hotel in SZR, and others)
